Arc Equine - Possible tendon injury

New horse has got what appears to be a swollen tendon with a good bit of heat in it - zero lameness and no signs of pain. I've gone down the rabbit hole of the worst tendon injuries known. sigh.

Currently being treated with bute, regular icing and box rest but waiting on swelling to go down as vets can't scan until this happens.

Everyone on Facebook seems to rave about the Arc Equine. How on earth do you keep it on for three hours?! Horse is going on full livery but has a constant need to have everything in it's mouth (has previously tried to pull off cold water boots (or in fact it will chew on everything attached to it)).
Is it worth the money/does it increase chances of horse recovering to pre-injury competition level?

I’d hold off on that until you have the scan results. Icing and restricted movement is all you need at the moment.

If there is damage on the scan save your pennies for prp/stem as required and you can also consider laser alongside

Thank you, I’m hoping the treatment can go through insurance. What is prp please?

Protein rich plasma.
Essentially blood from horse taken, spun down and then injected into the damaged area to increase healing (that’s very basic terminology!). Used for some forms of tendon injury.
For complementary non invasive treatment I’d look to laser rather than arc

Platelet-rich plasma :)

I use the arc equine every day on a few horses. best thing I found was a velcro ankle wrap thing in a pound shop. it has vented areas and strong velcro, so I wrap it on with that. never moves, even when horses mess in the fields

Facebook seems to be full of success stories with the arc equine, however people on here seem more skeptical in the other threads I've read.

Waiting for a scan is the worst - any chances it could be something other than a tendon injury?

So turns out it's a check ligament! 50% tear on one leg and then the vet noticed a rather large suspensory on the other front leg. Scanned the suspensory and said it was an old injury as there was scar tissue, (the look/size of this leg hasn't changed in the 6 months I've had the horse). Vet is more worried about the suspensory than the check. We have been prescribed three months box rest and then re-scan, with the hopes that the rest will either help the suspensory or there won't be much change due to it being old/established.
We're currently three weeks into box rest and the swelling on the check doesn't seem to be going down at all.. is this normal?

I'm currently on the look out for a 2nd hand arc equine to give us a better chance of a positive re-scan. Someone else on one of the other threads has said they had good success with feeding a hydrolyzed collagen supplement. Other people have suggested Ice Vibe boots but I have no freezing ability down there anymore, so now using a combination of the le mieux cold water boots, cold hosing and just re-stocked my Equi-n-ice coolant for bandages.
