Thinking of getting an Arc machine for my cob but was wondering how they work when attached to legs with feather? Do they require skin contact or do they work through that much hair ?

You’ll probably need to clip a patch for it to work. The machine tells you when it has a current. I don’t think they are good with thick hair.

As I remember, you're supposed to rotate them around to each leg, so you may have to clip a patch on each leg.
I didn't notice a huge difference when I used one on one of my horses, but some people swear by them. They can't do any harm (except possibly to your bank balance...) so definitely worth a go. Good luck!

I found I had to use a lot of the conductive gel on my Welsh cob’s legs because of the thickness of the hair. Worked well when he had laminitis. Also used it on myself and really did speed up healing. I actually have one for sale.

Thank you , does he have feather and did you have to clip?

My horse has quite thick hair on his legs; I do trim with scissors but not clip. I use a lot of gel with the arc equine then wrap in a soft bandage (which the supplier recommends) to hold in place to keep the connection. Without the bandage the connection drops in and out. And as someone said above you need to rotate it around the legs.

I have one for myself, the human version and can honestly say I couldn’t have coped without it after my serious spinal cord injury.
Made a massive difference and enables me to stay medication free . I have a compressed spinal cord and 5 squished discs.

I was very dubious about them, but bought one as I was so desperate to fix Alf that I'd try anything. Not sure I noticed much difference in his soundness, but at the time he had capped elbows the size of weetabix, and a stubborn case of mudfever that I just couldn't get on top of. Within 4 weeks of first using the arc, the mudfever vanished, and the weetabix reduced in size considerably, and vanished completely within 6 months. Coincidence perhaps, but it was interesting to see
