Following my thread regarding Archie's eye ulcer, he had a check up this morning. The vet says the ulcer has gone. F A B. But there is still something going on as the vessels that grew to heal the ulcer are still very much there and appear to be doing a job. I think he thought they would be receding by now.

Back to putting drops in his eye and another recheck next week.

Anyone with advice or where this might lead, please get in touch.

My little lad had an ulcer - it ended up having a bandage lense put in 32mm. It took from the Aug to the Dec to heal - which is why we were so frightened that he would loose an eye - we also kept him out of bright light which during the end of the summer was a nightmare,

Do not quite understand why you are still putting drops in if the ulcer has gone - but i am sure you vet knows the reason.

If you look at his eye now you can still see the site of the ulcer but his vision is fine now - we were very very close to loosing the eye.

I will ask hubby more when he gets home as he is in the eye trade.

But i honestly would not worry - the ulcer was by far the worst from what i understand as you can get a perferated cornea

Just spoke to hubby - so he only got half a story - but i think he said that if the blood vessells have grown, then they will drain but never go away - but then he had to go again.

I would phone your vet and just ask what the drops are for - as it is not the easiest to get drops in a horses eye - but the vets never think about that - when they say 3 times a day x 2 lot of drops !

The drops could also be used to numb the eye - if this is the case you need to be really careful with these
