Arrived at Burrows Court yesterday around 4ish as i was on at 5:38. Wandered around and it had been set up really nicely and was run brilliantly - as always. Lots of spooky Petplan boards and flower pots around the arenas and a big marque at the end of the warmup arena which had all the scores and food in.
Got on him and warmed up and he was a saint, didnt even bother about the marque. Got him in the arena to do my test, he had a minor fit at something (not sure what) just before the bell went, then bell went, we trotted down centre line, tracked left HUGE spook (not quite sure how i stayed on) as he had spied the Photographer on the bank
Carried on and did a nice test, changed in the medium canter which i brought back and corrected. I was pleased with him, and hoped id got around 64%.
Mum came back from the results boards and id got 68.97% and came 2nd!!!!!!!! So we've qualified for the Petplan Novice Open Finals at the Winter Championships in April on his first attempt!! I was so proud of him that i cried - pathetic i know - but i cant believe that 2months ago i couldnt even get him through a test without him rearing. Ive put so much hard work in and it feels like its all starting to pay off now.
He loved the mounted prizegiving - spent his time eyeing up the horse next to him and couldnt have cared less about the loud music. Then in the lap of honour the horse in front suddenly shot off and Archie followed throwing in a few bucks
then proceeded to do his silly 'stallion' trot with his tail in the air
He loved showing off, it was hilarious!!
Got him back to the lorry and sorted, then got my sheets back (there were 2 judges) i got thirteen 8s
including for my riding and his paces - but also got two 4s for his naughty bits!!
We didnt get back to the yard until 10 last night, so hes having a well deserved day off today
Ive got some videos, but photobucket is playing up and wont upload them at the moment - there was a photographer there too, and the photos will be online sometime this week, so when they are il stick a link on here.
Oh, and big thank you to Kick_On for coming to support us both!
