Hi I am new here I have two horses and one very silly Golden Retriever (not counting the old fellow un son) He is 10 years old and I love him to bits. He was a nightmare for the first 3 years we had him but is now a total silly billy nutcase pup. My sister bought one the same time (not related) and he is totally stupid as well, he is with me on hols at the mo whilst sis un family including mm 82 go ski-ing. Be happy to here from other goldie owners with equally nutty pets.

I dont know much about goldies but Shadow was great in the vid Homeward bound! I have a Douge de Bordeaux who is nuts! She once swallowed a garlic pot whole. I was petrified for her but it came out the next morning! lol

We have the most gorgoues goldie! Not silly at all! She is SOOOO well behaved it puts our other dogs to shame! She's 16 months old now and is so grown us and sensible. Love her to bits! Also have three Springers and a Munsterlander but Lottie the Retriever is just about as perfect as it is possible to get a dog to be! Loving, obedient, beautiful....shall I go on?????

I have a wonderful 3 year old golden who is actually a platinum colour, and he's a total comedian. He is so full of life and energy, swims against huge waves etc and yet is obedient on a walk unless involved with playing a game with another dog. He is trained to dry himself after swimming by rolling on dry towels and people roar with laughter watching him every time.
He has a collection of toys, loving the squeaky type such as a squawking chicken the best. He will make it "talk" back at you if you start a conversation when he's holding it.
I wouldn't swap breeds after having him, tho the hairs are a pain..
I can see him still making us laugh when an old dog, perhaps goldens just like the attention..
Oh and he watches a lot of television, sitting up bolt upright and squeaking when anything he likes appears.. he can even recognise a cartoon dog like dogbot...

We've got 2, a brother and sister who were 3 1/2 years old when we got them nearly 5 years ago. Their owner was getting divorced and wanted to find a home for them together as she had other dogs and couldn't keep them all. They were advertised in the local paper and we had to get a vet's reference. They are lovely dogs and very good. They have never had an accident in the house and bark with they want to go out (or come in). Their only vice is that they like to sit on the sofa in the lounge but we were warned about that before we had them.

I have one - she's 11 and people think she's only abt 2 or 3 when they meet her coz she still thinks she's a puppy

I have a 9mth old bitch.

She is brilliant and is a real sweetheart, a complete tomboy!

I took her swimming to a dog pool this week, which she enjoyed.

I plan to do agility with her when she is older.

We have done puppy classes and in April we'll start the next stage of classes again, can't wait.

I find that she does need a fair bit of mental stimulation as well as physical. She does love a good run off the lead.

On lead she is good in her halti, but rubbish off her collar, more my fault as I have not put the time in.

She is a couch potato too and loves a cuddle.

The hairs are a pain but its a small price to pay.

Goldies are very bouncy pups, she is much better than she was about jumping up at people and now its very infrequent.

Her fave toy is a squeaky puppy from Pets At Home. Its always in her mouth!!
