Are Ariat boots worth their price?

I have the Ariat Conistons and they are absolutely fantastic. Ive not had them long but I have had a pair of competition boots (the name escapes me) and they are exactly the same.

I would not buy anything else now if I could help it.

my H20 Bromonts are fab!! but unfortunately my Windermere's are a disappointment :( :( they have cracked badly and are no longer waterproof, after 3 months!! also a friend has the Windermere's and she bought them the same time as me and she has had the same problem as me with hers :(

I do buy ariat's as does my son, they last about 12 months top and then split and crack, but they are worn a lot, so I guess that they are probably still good value - I have three pairs at the moment. The two pairs that are both around 12 months are both split and cracked in the same spot, same with my son's pair.

Love my Ariat Bromonts. Sooo comfy :) i live in them when I am around the yard. if you find them too long to begin with Ariat will send you free heel risers which overcome this.

Turns out they are quite fashionable in the non horsey world. When I ride before work I where them on the tube and into the City and often get asked where they are from!

They're very comfy and warm, great for riding in, come in half sizes and look smart, but IME they don't last long if you wear them round the yard getting them wet and muddy, and doing lots of walking in them. I had a couple of pairs of Grasmeres that I wore all the time and both didn't survive twelve months. My third pair I've kept just for riding and if I want to look "smart but horsey" IYKWIM, and they're on about their third year. :) I can't fault them as riding boots and the little trainer type boots are great too. However they're too expensive to hammer, and if you do hammer them they cannot take it. If you get some muck boots too they stand up to abuse a lot better for a lot less money.

Mmmm yes, I would say they're good sturdy boots, well made and comfortable - and certainly on long rides are far more comfortable than a great many; BUT methinks they're charging quite a lot for their named brand?? I haven't looked but they're probably made in China or somewhere, for a pittance. (Will go and look now!! LOL). So yes, think maybe they ARE a bit pricey TBH.

But having said I've bought other Brand Name (cheaper) joddie boots and they came unstuck from the sole pretty quickly, so not worth the money long term. Probably better to pay up and look sweet and buy something good in the first place which will last.

Love mine. I wouldnt buy anything else for competing in. I've currently got the insulated Bromonts which are brilliant at keeping me warm and being waterproof - they're so practical (especially up in this part of the world). They last ages so are well worth the money IMO.

In my opinion no. I had a pair of the short boots and I was always having problems with the zip at the front splitting/seperating when done up. I had friends who had the longer boots and this was always happening to them. I know I could have replaced the zip but it was expensive to do and more hassle than it was worth. yes they were comfy but so where the dublin ones I used to have. I have since swopped to Mark Todd and Toggi and I thoroughly recomend both. I used to have dublin (which I recomend) which where very comfy and alot cheaper. I will never buy Ariat boots again after the problems me and my friends had with the zips and in my opinion its alot of money to be spending on something that keeps breaking.

Thanks for the heads up Dee, Ive just ordered a pair! Been faffing for ages trying to decide whether they are worth the money but after my issues with my Dublin boots apparently "not being sold as waterproof any longer" and the fact Im suffering with plantar wotsit having followed this thread I thought Id try them, especially as that does seem a bargain.

I think Ariat boots are overpriced crap. I love the comfort, but the workmanship is atrocious. I've had three pairs of Mudbusters - they have all broken in the same place and I wont' buy them again. It's a shame because they are really comfortable, but I'm not paying that price for something to break all the time. I've also had a few pairs of their short boots which are nice, but nothing special and definitely not worth the money. I had a pair of Regent short boots which lasted much longer and were almost as comfortable....

I'm naughty and have a pair of grassmeres that I love, a pair of H20 that are like slippers and a pair of Devon jodphur boots, which I don't find as comfy although they are ment to be the comfiest of them all. I have a thing for boots!

For all of you that have them cracking, do you clean them properly? As in how you are supposed to clean leather boots?

I clean all the mud and crap off mine with a slightly damp J-cloth, then when dry apply boot polish and then buff? I do this with mine and I wear them every day mucking out stables, in mud, occasional plodging in streams/water fights and as long as I have been rinsing them after mucking out so no wee left on them, and cleaning them I have had no problems with them cracking, only with the zips going after 3 years or more. (And I have cankles so there is always a strain on them!)

Yep this ^ completely overpriced and like all their boots (including their cowboy boots) are made in China which makes you feel kind of ripped off.

I have Grasmeres, Windermeres, two pairs of Heritage Short Boots, Two pairs of Monoco chaps and a pair of Bromonts. I have a slight addiction! :o Mine get hammered and not very well looked after, as I work 8-8 in the mud, snow, rain, sandy school and mega mucky stables. My short boots have just died after 3 years together.
I love Ariats, IMO worth every penny.

I think a lot of people don't realise that there are other costs than the making of the product in production. Ariat have done a lot of research and development of their products which is why their boots are so supportive and comfy (as someone with feet problems I really appreciate their boots, they are the only shoes I don't have to put my orthopaedic supports into, as I have collapsed arches which traps the blood supply to some of my calf muscles resulting in crippling cramps).

Your television/computer/oven is made in China and you don't complain about being ripped off when spending hundreds of pounds on those!!

They are very comfy, and were the best ones I found for supporting my ankles.

However, mine cracked and have holes along the side of my foot level with where the balls of your feet are and it didn't take that long for them to get in this state!

You must use a good leather cream on them the best one I have found is the dubarry leather cream my current ariat have had three years constant use and have not cracked yet my first pair did I did not condition them enough.

I have paddock boots both zip and laced and Grasmeres. They all get well worked and tested! But I do clean them and take pretty good care of them. I absolutely love them, wouldnt but anything else and currently saving for conistons.....because I want them not need them!!! serious boot addiction here

I've got a few pair of Ariats and I love them.. Had them all for years too!.. Whats the point in spending half the price to have to buy a new pair every 6 months..

Spend the extra and get the quality.. you wont regret it :D
