Are eventers better riders than showjumpers ?

Sorry to barge in on a very entertaining post ( can I watch,pleeeze?), but having been ringside at a fair few events this season, I think you can tell when an eventer does a bit of "proper" showjumping. They seem to ride their horses round, rather than hunt them round. Please don't all yell at me via your computers! Having said this, most of the rounds were at Novice level and below,so I cannot pass any comment about the style of those competing at the giddy heights of Int and beyond! ( I'm sure you're all FAB!)
 
Yes defo agree with that, Tim and Will did stand out from the crowd, some of the riders were awful though and who was it that knocked that poor man over, she had zillions in the class and seemed to go at break neck speed everywhere ( except to the ribbons )

Well after sunday where so many eventers forgot the course I am going to say that at least Show jumpers can remember a course with out needing 3 days to memorise it.

I don't think that pure eventers are that competitive. They need to practise jump offs more and get faster. Think quicker in the ring.
 
Oh i know - that girl who knocked the man over had millions of horses and was scary to watch! That accident could have ended a LOT worse than it did!

As for eventers VS showjumpers. Well i'm an eventer so im obviously going to say eventers rule lol no not really, i'd say better is the wrong word. Eventers are more stylish IMO and have a far more "correct" position due to the dressage they have to do. However showjumpers, although may not look good, get the job done just as well.

Was really impressed with Bumble at crofton! But then again was also incredibly impressed with nicky boulter - such a lovely rider to watch.

But we dont need to go faster @ events in the SJing so we just tend not too, mine would have a fit if I started'yanging' them round a jump off or turning real tight. Dext is by far nimble enough and such a quick thinker but it would blow his brain!
