I do love greys, never wanted one but ended up with one and I definitely want another!
I do miss him though :(

I have pics of him looking more bay than grey but can't find them :( I gave up keeping him clean really!

We always end up with greys! I would love to own a bay, chestnut or anything. Our shettie is a lovely dark brown though, he's our latest addition.

My first pony, Misty, was grey. Then we got Cosmo as a baby and he was basically black to start out with and is now nearly white at the age of 19 or so. We also had another grey pony called Lancelot. Then we had my grey girl, Inca, who was PTS last Friday and we also loaned Jessie who was grey. Then there is Belle...also grey. Hehe.

No pics of Lancelot online but you get the idea! Don't want a grey next time! :p

How dare anyone suggest that greys are common! I simply won't have it - and nor will my 3 greys! (Stamps foot in a strop!).

Mind you, if you go to an endurance ride, you'll find that grey arabs are extremely "common" :-)

this is my lovely hanovarian x tb x arab gelding Axel :) he was born bay! He was 6 in this picture

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend, it was an honest question as there just seems to be lot of them on the nearby common tied up so I assumed they were 'cheap' and easy to get hold of perhaps.

All of these are absolutely beautiful, thank you very much for sharing pics :)

Here are my gorgeous ones --

Star - 9 years old

Because I can't resist an opportunity for gratuitous postings of my foalie!
Daddy is a dapple grey warmblood, mum is the (white) grey few spot appaloosa with dapple grey legs!!
Twig as she is now - almost a blue-ish grey, going whiter!

I always thought grey's were stunning but never wanted one due to the washing involved. So instead I bought a coloured who 80% WHITE and even harded to keep clean

They are 'common' as in 'there's quite a lot of them about' but I've never thought of them as 'common' as in 'as common as muck and unrefined'

As someone said - the grey gene is a very strong, dominate gene and once it's in the bred line it's almost impossible to get rid off. The gypsy's will have added a grey horse somewhere along the line a good few generations ago and now they're get more and more grey foals.
