Are Horses Camera Shy?

A friend and I tried to take photos of my boy today and as usual he did everything bar look at the camera with his ears forward.

Head down
Look the other way
Ears back
Impression of a Giraffe
Yawn
I'll hide behind that available human

I wouldn't mind if I thought he was camera shy but I'm sure he's thinking that if he makes us wait he'll keep receiving the attention.

Just when I give up and lower the camera he does the perfect pose! Grrrrrrrr!
 
Dolly's a bit of a poser to be honest!!!

As soon as I point the camera at her, she gives us a big "cheese"!!

She probably thinks it contains food :o
 
I am sure Pharaoh was! There very few photo's of him doing the right thing. The riding ones were even worse, he would be going really well and as soon as my mum got the camera out he would do his best giraffe impression lol. My last photo's of him are ones of him with his mask on munching on some hay as he wouldn't stay still (and thanks to the blacked out bit I cant see his face properly) but they are the most treasured photographs I have of him :)
 
Hell yes mine is! The youngsters are fine, but my older cob who I've had for 13 years doesn't do cameras - thank God for zoom lenses, otherwise all my pics of him would be awful/hiding/ears back, shying from the camera!
 
My friends pony was! If you held a camera up, or even just pretended to....she looked at you as if it was a horse eating monster and backed away. She then started to go out and compete, win rosettes etc....and then decided that she loved being in the spotlight and having her picture taken I reckon :)

Another horse I knew would have his ears back in different directions, eyes closed and mouth half opened and tongue sticking out in every photo!
 
My boy will only prick his ears up when he can see i'm not ready, or so it seems!
He will always stick his face right up to the camera resulting in extreme close ups of noses, hair, eyes, slobber etc!
 
I have the opposite problem. I want a picture of my boy in his field wandering free as most of the pics I have of him are of him tied up or in his stable. However, whenever he sees me whip my camera out he feels compelled to come and check it out - preferably by eating it. That resulted in this rather interesting picture the other night...

I've just remembered my friend's story about a tb show mare who positively postured for a camera and then when the lens was lowered slouched all over the place! Her Mum used to get up to some antics trying to keep the mare's attention on her camera and be in the correct position so that when the judge looked at her she was flirting at her best! I'm sad to have not seen it because my friend told me it was as much fun watching the Mother as the horse!

Makes me imagine Basil Fawlty entering a stallion at a show with Sybil playing the part of Mother! Now I'm showing my age!
