I know its coming into winter and all.. but im very surprised ive had no calls for my lovely boy.

I dont want to break forum rules so will keep this general, advertised my boy (8yo DWB comp record aff&unaff fab allrounder) in horsequest and horsemart and about to advertise on H&H but so far ive spent around 70 quid on advertising and not a call or email or no interest at all - hes fairly priced and ive put OIRO because i will take less for a quick sale. I cant see why he is being overlooked or is it just the state of the market? Hs a fab horse but im desperate to sell due to finances, nothing hes done wrong at all.

Its been ages since ive bought or sold anything so maybe i am out of the loop!?!?! should i just find him a field for the winter ( what a waste!!) and try again in the spring???

Its not the best time of the year to sell but good horses generally sell at anytime. One thing that struck me is are you selling him too cheaply because you want a cheap sale? I for one am always wary if a horse sounds too good to be true at a cheap price. Not sure if that helps but that was my thought.

He sounds lovely I hope u find a good home for him soon x

I tried to send a pm but your box is full, I think I have found the ad and it does not really sell him, if you want a few suggestions pm me.

Hi yes, i did wonder that - when he was in light work i advertised him on preloved just to get a rough idea... had a lot of teenagers wanting loans and one person who sounded like a dealer... Now hes back in full work jumping and competing so the price reflects this. Its still way less than i bought him for though!!

PS can the person who sent me a PM please sent again. have done some housekeeping on my inbox ;)

I've been told it's slow everywhere, quietly advertised my daughter's 13hh ride & drive 10yr old on facebook/word of mouth and hardly any interest..

Does he hunt? Hunters are selling well!
I have 2 horses for sale, I advertised one this morning and have had 3 calls already, yet the one I advertised last week hasn't had a single call!

hes never hunted but he probably would - hes bold enough and not a totally spooky sort! Hes been schooled around Aston has done water, steps ditches etc. Hes light though so not a typical hunter type.

Having just mooched onto Preloved and found 3 horses on the first page advertised "free to good home", I'm tempted to say they're probably not selling at the mo...

I bought one last week :D I trawl through adverts everyday :o feel free to pm me a link to it ( im not buyign lol) and i could maybe pm you my thoughts :) ( not about price etc, but maybe some other stuff)

Yes local facebook groups are a good place, maybe people are less inclined to go all over the place travelling to view at the mo.

I bought a horse recently so they are selling but the price has got to be right, I was looking all summer and had a budget of 2500, for that I was not finding anything remotely like what I wanted, I ended up with pretty much my perfect horse for 1500 and so glad I waited!

Yes I have just sold a lovely ISH. He wasn't even for sale but a local person saw me riding him and made me an offer. He's gone to a great home.

Thanks, i have rewritten the ad so hopefully that has done the trick! Am hoping for some calls tomorrow for my lovely boy. He really is quality and im sad to see him go :(((((

Quite possibly. I have rewritten the ad to add more information about him - also the price is OIRO and negotiable to the right home. drop the price too much and he attracts the wrong sorts of people. i honestly think hes priced fairly given he has comp experience, bd points is a good age, and is sane!

I think it's the market & time of year (unless you have a hunter), I am struggling to sell mine too and it's stressing me out as I'm 34 weeks pregnant!

I also don't want to drop the price ridiculously low as I think it puts people off, and she is already on at a reasonable price.

I'm just coming to the conclusion that it is a rubbish time to sell and I may try to keep her now. It will just be a struggle over the winter heavily pregnant or with a newborn on a DIY yard! But it is very difficult to show her off when I can't really ride at the moment!

Where have you advertised so far? I don't think the free ads are really worthwhile, but Prime Equine were doing a free offer and they are good at updating their Facebook etc.

Good luck

Its the run up to christmas.....not the best time in the world to sell TBH.
Chances are after christmas it will be a different kettle of fish, providing you can hang on for the next 7 weeks.....

I think it is a particularly bad time to be selling with the dark evenings upon us, and horrible weather. Not really the time many people pick to embark upon buying a new horse and forging a relationship with it!

I have 2 for sale and I personally know of 5 people advertising at the moment. 7 very different horses. Not one of us has had so much as a phone call. !!!!
The market seems to have ground to a complete standstill.

I got a freebie advert on horsehunter and also advertised mine on preloved since September. I have only had 4 people contact me - about loaning. Nobody interested in buying, I think he is a reasonable price, he's advertised realistically but not a sausage. I am not bothered though, I am not going to give him away as I am happy to keep him - just feel he's wasted with me since I had a baby!
