I have my two up for sale (first one to sell goes- will keep the other) had a few emails/calls but no one actually coming up to view- they are not a lot of money so I was wondering it was the same all over- or my adds! (I cant describe them here or put a link) so was just wondering in general. Both are up for £550 ono and I can't warrent going lower really :(

Horses seem to be selling through word of mouth but not through adverts, my very sensible Fell pony hasn't sold even though she's advertised very cheaply. I feel your pain.

It seems to be really bad. I have a lovely PC pony for sale and can't even get anyone to come and look at it and I really don't know why! I have advertised it in several places and only had few phone calls. I really need her to be gone by the winter.

Horsequest and Horsemart atm, will be putting an ad on preloved, horse hunter and also the pC website later.

She's been advertised two and a half weeks and we've had five phonecalls and two viewings where people have cancelled at the last minute, so I think we're probably doing better than some but it's the sale that counts.

OP, I have no experience of either buying or selling, so I may be talking nonsense, but I have seen similar posts on here and it is often suggested that the price is too low. Yours do seem very cheap, almost meat money, and maybe that is putting people off?

How have you valued them?

nope i have two friesians for sale both young advertised most places i could but no intreast part from a couple but didnt turn up

I know ppl with nice top quality horses for sale. A few yrs ago at the price that they are advertised at they would have been snapped up. So far neither have sold. Another friend has a 14.2hh novice ride for sale, after two months at a fair price she has got someone interested in buying him but only after a vetting and a week trial. £550 does seem very cheap tho. Are they ponies? Projects? maybe ppl just arent taking risks with projects at the moment. Normally at this time of year I have a little project on the go but with the way things are I dont want to take on the risk.

the market is rubbish at the moment...nothing is really selling...nobody has any spare cash about them at the moment!! a lot of my friends are dealers and times are bad for them!

See im on the opposit, Im looking for a horse to buy but I havn't really come across anything that im looking for. Well I found 2 but it all went down hill when the vettings came.

:(

I'm not buying, although I'd love to snap up some of the bargains about, but I do keep an eye on the adverts and places like Project Horses. When you see TBs at silly money or even free to a good home, staying on the website for weeks at a time, you know that people are just not buying.

I don't think the uncertainty regarding hay and straw is helping much either.

I just wish I had the room / time for a couple more....sits on hands.....

I guessed tbh! They are both only 2 years old - one wins every time out in hand but needs gelding hence the 550 and the other is unreg'd but lovely paces and already gelded- hence 550 I tried them both at 800ono but had not one single phone call. Not sure what to attempt now :(

No, or not for any amount of money, it really bugs me when people start suggesting that horses are underpriced and thats whats putting people off..

I advertised my horse for a price I thought he was worth, he's a 3yr old and advertised for the same price the stallion owner is selling weanlings for with only a couple of email enquiries.. what am I to do, I have too many horses and need to reduce by the winter so I can either keep spending money on advertising him or reduce the price and keep reducing the price till he sells..

Selling horses is very deppressing and has been for the last couple of years, its heartbreaking having to sell good quality, well bred horses for less than its cost to get them on the ground..

Me too, it is very fustrating.

I have had mine up for sale for a month and half - had 4 viewings and about 6 calls.

First people came twice then decided their daughter was too inexperienced for him and tbh I wasnt overly happy about them having him and agreed.
Second people came and said he was great but too quiet for what they wanted as daughter needs more of a challenge - fair enough.
Third people came and child was tiny - her legs didnt come past saddle flaps and he doesnt understand flap flap flap.
Fourth people came and loved him and I was happy they were suited. They are having a think so finger crossed.
Its a bloody nightmare but I am determined to be 100% honest and get him the right home with the right people.

I had a TB mare on project horses for 2 months £300 and then free to good home - didn't even get an inquiry. She really really had to go so sadly she went to Beeston last week - luckily a person bought her (as opposed to meat man) but price was very cheap. While we were there we saw youngstock going for as little as £40 - just heartbreaking really :(

They really don't seem to be. I have a cracking 15.2 for sale and have had only a couple of calls and he is at a realistic price.

Worrying.

Yes - I advertised three horses on Horsequest, and all sold within a week of going on there (the same week). They were definately undervalued for what they were, but over-valued in the current financial climate (if that makes sense). Two of them I could have sold ten times over, and am still getting calls despite the adverts being removed from the site!
