We are trying to sell a little coloured pony and have had no calls at all since she was advertised last week. We thought she would go straight away so I have no idea what is selling!!!
They are selling imported irish horses from my current yard and of the 12 that they have had in since November, I think at least 9 have been sold (although 1 was returned because he was only 4 as opposed to the 9 yo they though he was!!). They are all hunter/allrounder types but priced fairly reasonably at max 4 1/2 k.
I did not think mine was overpriced in-fact she was being sold for what I paid 3yrs ago. Despite her being registered etc, I have had no calls so have had to reduce the price. I did not want to give her away, but if you can't even get enquiries for them??
we sold my sisters mare last week, who was an eventer but the market is slow, we had a few calls but after people looked at her record we heard nothing back. don't know what people expect for 6.5K but we have sold her to a15 year old girl who is going to have some fun. But I was disappointed in the response we had
Lizzie_liz- I agree, people sometimes seem to expect alot from a horses track record yet only want to pay small amounts! Some people are very un realistic, if the horse had a perfect record it AINT gonna be 6.5K! more like 25K!
A friend is selling a very sweet and safe 12 yr old PC allrounder, has had a few calls since the ads went up a week, but only one person try him. Very reasonably priced too.
Thought they were like gold dust personally, but not been much interest!

precisely thats what i was telling mum and friends from our yard. our horse never stopped xc but its SJ wasn't brilliant which meant it would drop down the placings quite a bit. If she was jumping d/c we would be asking well over the 10K mark.
i think horse prices have gone mad so it is making it very hard to buy. You price your horse at a realistic price but because other peopl are pricing theres well above yours, and could be a worse horse then buyers think your horse has something wrong with it
My pony went on the Pony Club website on thursday morning, I had a phone call at 12.30 from a very interested lady who went to see him on saturday and phoned yesterday to say they want him, he's being vetted this week and they want to pick him up on saturday!
Crumbs, my 16.3hh that I sold at the weekend for 10K, hadn't done anything. He's purely been used for hacking out
. He's only 5 and hasn't even been taught to jump although I have done some schooling on him. I believe that with his new owner he should be worth about 25K-30K next year at this time.
I sold one just last week - VERY quickly..... within 24 hours of the ad appearing on the internet the horse was the other side of the country and I had the cash in the bank - I've never sold a horse this fast before, the t'internet is a marvelous invention!
I bought one 3 weeks ago today a 16.1hh TBX gelding 6 y.o. green as only ever really been used for hacking. He's nice natured and have already had a bit of fun jumping ditches out and about with him, looks a bit poor but nothing the spring grass won't see to. Paid £1200 with English saddle, bridle and fleece.
