Thinking of buying a trailer, and to date I only have experience with Ifor Williams, they seem solid and reliable, so was hoping to find something second hand. (For around £2,000)

Can anyone give me any tips on things to look out for when buying trailers, or perhaps if there is another make superior to IW, that's still affordable? Thanks :)

better question would be what's the best trailer for my budget!??? which is possibly an IW !!! yes!!! but I wouldent buy a new one when for a little more you could get a bateson .. Just make sure it isnt stolen and that the floor is ok and all the fittings, ramp brakes, lights and tyres are ok... take someone mecanicaly minded with you ....

Plenty advice on this topic on the 'net if you have a google

I have used IW and like them. I have owned a Bateson Deuville and really loved this trailer and was sad when my horse outgrew it. The equi-trek, I loved the layout but the build quality was not great. Horses all travelled well in all three trailers but I needed the space of the equi-trek over the other trailers.

Remember to do your homework with your weights ROG on here is good for advice re this is you are uncertain

Bateson for me as when I was looking, it had a better suspension than the Ifor trailers (previous Ifor trailer) and items such as the reversing mirror, the perspex in the front so horse is visible and there is more light were what made my decision. Also, Bateson unload on the opposite side from the Ifor. Now I can understand the arguments on both side but felt that, in an emergency, I could at least get the horse out on the road side. Bateson also seem to hold their value. I have also had some loaders who didn't like the Ifor but were happy in the Bateson.
