Are parsnips safer than carrots and apples to add to their feed?? What is a good sugar free treat for horses.

They are not entirely sugar free, but they contain less than carrots. As do turnips and swedes.

No parsnips have sugar. I think sprouts are fairly sugar free. .

No, they are worse than carrots for sugar.

I have found that the best sugar free treats are Badminton Tasty Treats.

If your horse has a sugar intolerance then I would not give it any additional succulents - other than grass of course!

Swede is a lower GI as are sprouts, I tend to give my lami prone these as they are in season but she does get some parsnips occasionally as she adores them
