So after reading on Facebook so many status updates saying how bored people are going to be without the Olympics its got me thinking. Do people forget about the Paralympics?
The Olympics was simply amazing and I believe the Paralympics will be equally amazing.

We have tickets to dressage and I cant wait!! i think its quite sad and almost offensive to the people taking part in the paralympics that they are not included. Its all over the place that the olympics have finished, huge parties last night etc etc, its almost as if the paralympics are not as important!

Why isn't it run alongside? The olympic closing ceremony makes it seem like it's all done and finished and the para olympics isn't as important!

I've got tickets to the final day of the dressage!
I *think* that channel 4 are showing the paralympics. Not sure how much though.
I certainly have a huge amount of respect for all competing in the paralympics.

I agree, their sporting events should be held alongside so they are included. Not many people are aware or even interested in the Paralympics, if they were held alongside, think of how many people would be inspired that even with a disability you can still be an athlete.

Hopefully with Channel 4, More 4 and some on E4 they should be able to get pretty good coverage?

I won't be going to watch anything, no will to get the train to London again this year!

It would just cause overload to run it all at once and para athletes would get lost I mean the amount if coverage was huge more events going on would just be too much and to be fair to the presenters last night for them it is over the para coverage is to be on channel 4 so I think they where articulating very person feeling.
I think it's better separate every one gets a chance to take a breath and then it starts again.
The profile of para sport is raising I think the separate olympics aids rather than hinders this.

The Olympics and Paralympics are two totally seperate entities. I think it is better that they are run seperately in order to give them seperate coverage.

Sadly the rest of the World doesn't give the Paralympics the same importance as us and other Nations - notably the US who pretty much ignore it! Even China have a significant team at the paralympics but sadly intil the US get behind it there will be a struggle to get corporate interest and sponsorship at the same levels:o

I also can't wait, I have got tickets to the dressage on the day Lee Pearson is riding :) I am also going to the athletics and should see Pistorious run :) I can't wait to see the olympic park up close (go past it every morning on the train) and actually go inside the stadium.

My mother and I were talking yesterday, I said they shouldn't have the closing ceremony until the Paralympics is over, or run them alongside/with the Main competitors, within the same 16 days then if you get what I mean

Not trying to boast or anything but i have a full day on the 30th and two afternoons the 2nd and the 4th at the Paralympics planned. So excited.

There was quite a lot on the evening news tonight. The signs are being replaced by Paralymics signs and the various venues being altered and adapted for the different sports.

It should be great, let's hope the weather is kind again.

There is a two week gap before the Para's.
I believe this is to make the accommodation more wheelchair friendly and such like. It also enables the volunteers a break. Many volunteers will be doing the para's too.
