I have a dilemma . I have to get new saddle but unsure whether to take the 200 they have offered px or sell privately. Has anyone recently sold a second hand saddle. If so where.

I managed to sale one of mine to a friend on facebook, i always found if i part exchanged i wouldnt get as much for it, if you think its worth more than 200 then sale it privately

I'm saddle hunting ATM, been looking on Ebay and Preloved. I would say that when I contact people on Preloved, even people whose ads have been live for a few weeks still have their saddles for sale. On Ebay, plenty are bidding but a lot don't make the reserve. So, I think maybe sellers are asking too much money OR potential buyers either don't have as much to spend, or think the second hand saddles are over priced...

I sold a DR saddle last year on Saddles Direct. When I advertised, the private sales bit was pages long. Having a quick look now, there are only a handful for sale.

BTW... what are you selling?!

I'm selling two on ebay at the moment, and OH has just sold another on ebay. I'm pleased the price that are at atm (I set a reserve as I didn't want them to go for 99p!) as they have reached the reserve. They are both good english saddles in good condition, but aren't worth anything to my saddler as people don't want second hand from him.

I'd go for ebay, but make sure you get good pics and are thorough in your description as some on there have terrible photos and just go for nothing!!

Look at Winklepokers post!

She just did a good job of getting rid of hers lol !!

Seriously both saddles I have bought this year have been off ebay - I had my tack stolen a while back which was a lesson learned but when I came to bring my mare back into work I just wanted something servicable ! Saddler fitted it and its fab except it is a WH and I need something more secure for jumping and hunting in as she has a big pop/shy/rear lol

Ebay is a great place to get your saddle noticed - take good pictures outside in good light and put as much info as you can in the listing title

The WH saddle I bought earlier this year was listed as 'Black Saddle' thats it no size etc I ended up paying £100 for it and its fab.

I recentley bought a Kent & Masters GP in great condition from eBay for £375. I would just list it everywhere and hope for the best. :D:D With regards to eBay I would just list it as an auction with the starting price being the lowest you would take.

What saddle is it? And how much are you asking for it? - I found many people were wanting way too much for their secondhand saddles, most I was looking at were selling well (Bates & K&M mostly)

Selling an ideal 17 vsd . Only year old. Was thinking about 400 for it ? What does anyone think?

I think that is cheap, if it is in good condition. On preloved they seem to be between 400-500.

I got my saddle for 375 at about a year old, they are about 700 new

Nuts, don't think I have what anyone is after then - I shall thank my lucky stars they have reached their reserve!

(Ideal GP 17.5'' mw havanna and Heritage 17.5'' m gp black if anyone is after one!).

Which Ideal GP? The 1350?

Goodness, I've no idea I'm afraid, sorry! I got it second hand from our old saddler and rode on it for a couple of months before finding that it was too narrow for her, bit of a waste of £ tbh and since I sincerly hope she isn't going to loose her topline muscle then she isn't ever going to fit back in it!

(P.S. Just checked out the Ideal site, def not the 1350 I'm afraid - looks more like the standard gp/event saddles on there with flatter knee rolls).

The Event is a GP... do you have any pics? It might be just what I'm looking for! Feel free to PM for an email address if you have pics you can send :)

I advertised my Albion K2 on Preloved, lady rang within a couple of days, said she definitely wanted it and please don't sell to anyone else, so sent her a Paypal invoice. Two other people rang, one wanted to pick it up the next day! Guess what, the 'definitely want it' changed her mind  and the other two got fixed up meanwhile.
So, still got it :(
