My grey mare was so filthy when I brought her in this morning. All the bays and chestnuts in the field looked ok but the two greys were both bogging. I just wondered - are there any positive advantages of owning a grey? The only one I can thnk of is that you can see cuts more easily on them!

Can spot cuts and easier to spot them in a crowd as there is likely to be less greys than bays!

I often swear mine is a cream roan with bum spots so I can spot him in a line up! I get very confused with bays/chesnuts and browns.....I am often found talking to the wrong one if there has been a field swap lol

They look lovely when they have had a bath!

Mine looks totally different.

They are beautiful and the most flashy in a showring

Love that!

Agree - they look great when they are clean (and generally get better marks in a dressage test because of it!) - and no - I haven't got a grey hence the rubbish dressage!

You get to set your alarm to get up that little bit earlier to get him ready for shows. You get to sample loads of different shampoos to find the most effective one and you get lovely toned arms from endless brushing!
I wouldn't swap mine for the world!

In endurance and other high energy sports their coats reflect heat better than dark-coloured horses, therefore they're quicker to cool down for vet checks.

But when they cast their coats it's like living in a snowstorm ...

I am very jammy my very white horse (in the photo) usually stays this clean out in field though due to pink skin she is rarely out without a rug

They look very pretty in show ring and take good photos

For tails btw Soda crystals are amazing for getting that yellowy colour out

My last grey almost never rolled in the field if she didn't have a rug on - didn't like getting horrible soggy mud in her hair!
