Are there any breeds that just don't ' do it ' for you ?

[ QUOTE ]
soz then just it seemed like you was saying they were designer breeds and i was like well ive never seen one in a handbag or dressed up, my old jack russel once pulled a ferret out of a hole, he killed it aswell

The person that owned the Ferret must have been pretty miffed!

Gina B I apologise profusely. The only pure labs I have met have either been obese (very!) or aggresive (ended up being PTS

)

I shall have to have my faith in the breed restored

cala-- wohoo go the collies!! YEY! (i do like lurchers and whippets btw!)

Prose -- Although we have more liberal lead laws etc a safe enclosed space specifically for dogs would be a good idea in england! Although there is one in scotland I think big towns and cities should make it a more common occurance in parks, so that it is safer and easier for dog owners to exercise their animals!

Im living in the usa right now and i can say that pitbulls are no where near as fierce as the hype makes out. They are actually about 9 on the bite list with springer spaniels being 4th? makes you think huh!

Funny you should say this. We have a GSD, 3 labs and a springer. The GSD is the gentlest, most trustworthy dog ever. I would trust her with my life. The springer is cute and cuddly and lovely but I reckon she is the most likely to snap and is definitely a killer (just ask any rat !!!!) I would definitely only trust the GSD with children.

there is one in scotland aden park massive space fenced in, several different enclosures incase your dog doesn't get on well with others, amazing place, my dog loves going there

[/ QUOTE ]

You are so lucky, i would love to be able to let my shiba off the lead, without worrying about losing her or her running off and getting run over. I feel so guilty about keeping her on a lead

I dont like the bull breeds or small yappy dogs.

Ah thankyou, I would love a system over here like that and so I think would most owners who live in towns / cities.

Well Tina doesn't count as a pure bred lab as she is of questionable lines, but you'd love my little blonde bimbo Midget
grin.gif
She is little for the breed, lovely and slim and very nicely natured
smile.gif
everyone loves her

Midgetty dogs don't do it for me. Not a fan of tiny, yippy, fluffballs I'm afraid, particularly if they are midget white fluffballs.

However I do like my 2 large white fluffy beasties of course
grin.gif
. Collies are my thing really though. Grew up with collies and I absolutely adore them. I have two cross collies (aswell as my 3 big dogs). Lily is a straight cross; ESS X BC and her pup, Snowdrop's father is a purebred BC so she is 3/4 collie AND even though she is a midget, I love her
laugh.gif
. I also love my big black Malinois - she's the "best dog in the world" according to my husband.

Ooooh, i'm so with you on the 'doodle thing, just on principal. I've met many that are really rather nice natured but still, a huge price tag for what is basically an unregistered, un-health tested, un-known-how it's going to turn out...mutt. I like REAL mutts, though. Go figure.

However on the ones that don't do it for me - staffies aren't my favs. Though again, there's always an exception. But as a rule, nah....

Hm, not so terribly keen on Old English Sheepdogs. I'm a dog groomer - they like to eat dog groomers. So I prefer to avoid.

hmm i hate the staffies, pit bull types- london is full of chavs walking them on big leather leads- they are ugly ugly!! Usd to love labs as i had one- gone right off them as the ones i tend to see are fat and stupid!!

hate JRT's- every horsey person i know has one- they are the yappiest creatues- ugh i house sat for a friend who has 5 of them and i didnt get one nights sleep because of them and their stupid barking!!

like everything else- love love love greyhounds and lurchers, plus am a converted pomeranian fan since i acquired my two little beasties who it has to be said completely changed my opinion of small dogs- they are ridiculously clever and loving- not typical yappy pampered bundles of fluff- they are actually really cool!!

I don't like any staffie or pit bull types. I'm sure they could be lovely, lovely dogs, but if we're just going on the look of a dog then I wouldn't have one.

I like big dogs mostly, and having always had pointers, I like gundogs mainly.

Personally, also don't really like labs.

I don't like Staffies or 'bull breeds, they all look bandy-legged and ugly to me. I also don't like any doodles, not because they have anything wrong with them its just the 'designer' dog thing I can't stand. Also don't like mini lap dog types, as someone else said the always shivering types.

Also I think border collies should only be owned by people who live on farms or who can give them the mental stimulation and large amounts of exercise that they need, a friend has one and you can't sit in her house without it dropping a ball at your feet, just annoying.

I don't like hard looking dogs....I'm a cute, cuddly dog lover. They have to be strokable.

As much as I love my Cocker and I adore Springers, I'm not a fan of the bug eyed smaller spaniels.

I don't like big dogs........Cockers take up enough room on the bed as it is!

I think Bess, our Border Collie, is a great dog but I would hate to have her in the house 24/7. She wants to be outside eyeing up something to round up. She isn't my idea of a house dog.

I don't dislike any dog, as such, there are just some which I personally wouldn't want to own.
