Are there any dealers to avoid in Sussex?

please note the admin, post at the top of the new lounge, we aren't allowed to talk about bad dealer experiences due to leaving ourselfs and them liable to be sued.
 
but you can ask and then be pm'd privately! just can't name and shame on the open board for obvious legal reasons!

i know someone who has a cracking little horse from a dealer that regularly gets dissed on here... xxx

I will ad though - I personally havnt had experience with a certain dealer that has been mentioned on here .. But I know that First Choice havnt had a great repuation on here .. But it was actully the other day I was looking and they do have some really nice horses for sale at the moment.

I wouldnt reccomend going to them for a beginer/novice, but they do have some really good jumpers etc for the more "experienced" rider. (Although I cant really say much, its just by looking at the horses that look like they would do well going out to comps etc)

I think its down to the type of horse/pony that you want. xx
 
Its such a gamble TBH!!! Ive just won a court case re a dealer selling a horse NOT fit for the job!! dodge passport,not disclosing it had been lame just b4 i bought it!! Took nearly 2 yrs to sort it though!!(i wont name and shame just yet,but will if he doesnt cough up,plus ive spoke to H&H who are happy to name him in the mag now its been throught the courts!! you just shouldnt name until they have been proven guilty).
Just try the horse at least TWICE,more if poss(hack it out,jump it??tack it up yourself)Get a friend to go with you as a witness to what is said about the horse!! Ask all the right questions like known vices,good to hack,load! get a written reciept and get them to write down if they offer an exchange policy!!most GOOD dealers do!! or should!!
I tried a few at 1st choice 2 yrs agao,Sean seemed honest(as he cud be on a horse they dont know that well)and i know he took a horse back that was a weaver that wasnt known at time of sale!!
Goodluck.DONT rush into it and defo get the beast vetted and the vet to state on cert what the horse is intended to be use for(hacking only/?RC level or above).This is all legal paperwork to back you up IF it all went t&ts up.!!
 
Dealers usually con you into using a local vet they know or recomend (so they can slip them a £20 and pass its vetting). Make sure you use your own vet, and get bloods checked. Check the microchip number on all stolen horse records. Turning up unexpected usually helps you get a more honest idea of what the horses are like. Good luck.
