I'm looking at getting a new body protector as I have just sold my old one - I went out today and tried on one of the Airowear Outlyne Body Armour protectors, and it was really comfortable, but it seemed a bit flimsy and like it wont really protect me if I have a fall. I was wondering if anyone had one? Or can anyone reccomend any good ones?

I mainly hack with my veteran mare, but am looking at getting a 5 year old 16hh cob and I want to do some jumping and possibly Le Trec with him also? My budget is about £150.

If anyone can advise me on a good one(s), then thank you! :D

P.S. Sorry, it's a bit of an essay! Well done if you get down to 'ere! ;)
 
I believe my Kan eq is worth every penny. Worth trying one on, give them a ring for local stockists. Really heavy off but so light on, It's bizarre!

There are loads of threads on here about them if you do a search. They use 'smart-foam' made by Knox (motorbike racer's technology), are very comfy, you can breathe fully & deeply in one (because of the overlapping sides), and they give a fantastic level of protection (personal experience speaking, been launched off a couple of youngsters in mine!) Worth every penny.
 
Racesafe :) just got mine thats going to be a birthday pressie. Was super comfy from the moment I put it on and didnt have to wait arround for it to mould to you. Go try one on though as the lady in the shop said they dont suit every one.

ETA I tried a kan and to get it to fit around my chest it was digging in at my waist :(
 
I have a Racesafe one and love it, could never go back to a standard body protector now! I used to absolutely hate wearing them because a lot of them are really restrictive and bulky, but the racesafe one moves with you and is quite lightweight too. And when I had a nasty fall last year where I got thrown/trampled, it worked beautifully - there wasn't ANY pain or ANY cuts / bruising on my upper body which had been protected by my racesafe, but my legs (obviously unprotected!) are still black and blue and hurting 12 months on! Highly recommend them.
 
Kan deffo, the only one I actually don't mind wearing and I'm one who you 'couldn't force me in one if you tried!' Type of person lol. Super comfy and allows me to move!
 
I have a Charles Owen one that is ok as they go, better than the Rodney Powell I borrowed. But if I was going to buy another (which I won't unless I start doing xx) I'd save up and buy a Kan Teq, I've tried one on and I was impressed.
 
Ive tried pretty much all of them. It really depends on your body shape and what suits you. At the end of the day if it doesnt fit or isnt comfy, it aint no use, so as long at its BETA2009 I wouldnt worry.

I tried a kan, really wanted to like it... hated it, wasnt impressed at all. It was uncomfy, heavy and restrictive. I also found it nigh on impossible to do up, despite getting the next size up (M) and Im a size 8.

Tired champion and rodney powell and found both bulky and uncomfy.

I love my racesafe and have the childs XL,wear it all the time I ride and forget its on. I would say they suit flatter chested types though.

Im still riding while pregnant and have 'expanded' in certain areas so purchased an Airowear Outlyne today which is cut for ladies with boobage, and have to say although it is heavier that my RS, its very comfy on and will certainly do me until I shrink up top again lol
 
another racesafe fan, they allow you to move and as a result you can maintain stability a lot easier. You are held stock still by some of the body protectors on the market, concrete is less ridgid than a lot of them!
 
Racesafe :) sooooo comfy! Wouldn't change it for the world except to buy a new one. Try it though, and get professionally measured for one for perfect fit - I needed the short back.

They're equally good for those of us who are far less endowed :rolleyes: :o as they are so adjustable. I tried a Kan on just out of interest but they couldn't find one to fit :confused:
