As title states.
I dont have a lot of experience jumping and i have a 9 year old who acts like a 4 year old when it comes to jumping.

Also any tips to help a horse /stop a horse from overjumping huge? or any ways to sit it easier? Is not just a couple of inches it is up and over :P
( Before anyone says i do get lessons once a week) ;)

The more the horse jumps the less it will leap over as its technique improves. Have you considered jumping the horse on the lunge or getting your instructor to jump it a bit. My mare hadn't jumped when I bought her and I'd never jumped well and not for about 18 years. I found moving to a professional show jumping coach made the difference.
 
Yep, there are. My horse and I both were very green when we started out in Feb last year. She'd regularly over-jump by a good few feet ... 30cm felt and looked more like 1m. These days she goes around a BE90 quite and showjumps around 1m happily.

How did we get here? Weekly lessons with my regular instructor combined with the odd clinic with specialised BE coaches. Loads of video & photo analysis for me. Learning to trust and give more with my hands. Gridwork for horse and me, working on balance, tak-off, shape. Putting jumps up - much easier for my horse, giving a better shape. Putting up a few fences rather than just one ... focusing on the one I was jumping next (if that makes sense)...

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't easy. I fell off at our very first show because she was so excited she totally overjumped the first fence, bouncing out of the saddle ... We carried on and visited every local show we could get to. I loved (and still love) every step of the way.

I bought a green 6yo with a huge jump last year and I don't know how many times he's jumped me out of the saddle - he did it twice in the space of 15 minutes during one rather disasterous lesson.

Putting my stirrups up has helped with my balance over fences. We've spent months doing a lot of pole work and focussing on technique - both mine and B's. Having B schooled by my instructor has definitely helped - B is more confident and knows what he should be doing and Martin knows what needs to be done to get him there so he can make sure I'm riding him correctly.
 
I did this. My horse had jumped a bit and loved it but not for a very long time so he was pretty green. I had never jumped anything else. I fell off quite a bit but with lots of lessons we have both improved loads. I also had my instructor jump him every few weeks so he got a bit of experience with a proper rider.
