Are there any honest loaners out there

I'm getting really fed up with looking for my daughters next pony. We are getting responses to our wanted ads, but just from the wrong people.

I have probably driven in excess of 200 miles in the last few weeks, to be met by people who seem completley incompetant and are just trying to pass there problem pony on, to be sorted out, so they can sell it at a later date.

Or people who have been trying to sell who claim that they would consider loaning, but when push comes to shove they try and convince me to buy at a reduced price

It's really upsetting me now as people seem to forget that my daughter gets all exicted about the prospect of her next pony, only to have people muck us around and waste our time

So if anyone knows any honest people who want a knowledgable loving home for their pony, please let me know.

I'm getting desperate, we have a the perfect loan home lined up for my daughters current pony and I am worried they will find something else in the mean time.

13.2 to 14.2 pony club allrounder. I want something safe and sensible as my daughters only 10yrs, but she is a confident and capable rider. Age and looks are not really any issue as long as it's fit and healthy and able to compete up to about 2ft6.

have u tried the equilink people? We found a pony through them and it all worked out.

Where are you? and What are you looking for?

Well I was hoping that there are people out there who are more concerned that their pony goes to the right home than just making money from it.

I have 2 horses, which I would never sell and for this reason one of them is due to go out on loan shortly.

There probably are, but sadly not that many. I am like you and have a horse out on loan because I could never sell, but I just wanted to point out that may be why a lot of what you are looking at are less than ideal, not everyone is in the financial position to keep the ponies they buy when their children grow out of them.

Maybe you could view ponies before taking or telling your daughter? Saves her getting her hopes up for nothing, if you like the pony/see it ridden take your daughter back to try it.

Have you tried your PC DC? We had a few on loan that way from families who had younger siblings coming a long but not ready for that pony yet, so they needed a home for a year or two but didn't want to lose a good pony by selling.

The trouble is, as has been said, a lot of good, problem free ponies are sold rather than loaned. The ones that are loaned, often never have to be advertised. I have a cracking 13hh who we have never advertised, she has found loan homes through the PC word of mouth only. Your best bet is to call your local PC's and ask if they know of anything.

As for honest owners loaning out their horses, what about honest loanees coming to try them! I was recently bombarded with phonecalls for my gelding, and after telling those that called that he was not a novice ride, and was extremely forward going, and needed someone very confident, an array of novices and first timers showed up - a waste of my time and theirs!
