Ok as title. I know zilch about mules and would like to learn something about them! It would be interesting to see how many people own them, how suitable they are for riding, do they jump, personalities, feeding, hardiness etc etc. Might be a little random but came across a yankie link to mules the other day and now intrigued :)

I'm interested too! They are meant to be brilliant steady rides hence why they are used for tourists in many locations! Never met one, but would love to know a bit more!

I want to know how they breed mules, my two mares are terrified of the donkeys down the road. They are fine with the llamas but really don't like donkeys at all!

This is Sililia :D

Now obviously I can't speak for any others, but she is great!

She is good to ride, but not for novice. She needs a crouper because of her lack of withers, the saddle slips forward. She knows exactly how well you can ride and takes full advantage of it
If you let her, right means left, tug on the rains means trot, and anybody's garden flowers are fair game! :D

She likes affection on her terms, and will happily nibble your fingers and headbutt you in the face if she's in a grump.

She hates men and pigs.

She's a good doer, and only about 12hh but she eats the same as the rest just smaller portion (horse mix, dried peas, carrots, etc.) Although she will eat everything else and then her carrots.

We've never tried to jump her so I can't answer that one for you :p

Overall, she's great to have around, cheeky personality and sometimes needs a smack on the nose but she's lovely really :D

B_2_B - Your mule is gorgeous!

I have 2 little ones. Mellie came with her trap and harness but I haven't driven her yet. I intend that she works for her living next year by transporting feed, hay, etc across field. She may have something to say about that!

I got Benny recently from a 'free to good home' ad. Lovely little chap.

I intend to breed a large mule in the future and already have a young donkey jack who has a strong bond with my IDx filly.

They have fantastic personalities.

If you are interested I advise you to go to the Mulesuk forum. Lots of info there and helpful advice given.

Photos of my gang are in my profile albums.

She's SO cute!!

There are blogs about some u.k mules on the Mulesuk sister site
http://mulesuk.blogspot.com/
No Zorses Zonkies Zonies on yet though
Vale Donkeys are bringing in a very nice Zorse though

Following the blog :) and joining the forum.
I was wondering when Zorses were going to come up, I'm sure Spots n Stripes ranch were breeding show Zebras? I got a price quote from them once...hence why my field is stripey-pony-less.

B2B, Jinglejoys and LBM your mules are delightful and as for the little one at the top of this page - I want to squish!!! He/She is so beautiful. It's really interesting reading about their personalities etc. I have come across the spots and stripes ranch and saw they had the zebra crosses. Would these still theoretically be called a mule as they are a horse cross? Just wondering if it's like a lurcher, basically anything that's greyhound cross is a lurcher. LBM are yours still young and can you drive them both together successfully? We have two donkeys at home and I know how different they are to a horse to do anything with. Actually the older one does pull a little cart!
