With the credit crunch and the BHS campaign I just wondered whether more people had made the decision not to put their mares in foal?

There is a person around here who breeds coloured horses pretty freely and he doesn't seem to have cut back at all - but then he has a reputation for being irresponsible.

Do you know anyone who hasn't bred this year who in other years might have taken the plunge?

I know someone who usually has 4+ mares in foal at a time and doesn't have any this year. Where abouts are you out of interest as i also know someone who breeds coloured horses 'freely' as you put it!!

We can but live in hope. Too many crap mares being put in foal with the result of many crap foals being born. Bring on the 'license!'

There do seem to be fewer in mare foals going through the markets and on the websites this year. There also seems to be more mares going for sale, presumably as they are not going to make next years 'crop'. At least one silver lining from the credit crunch.
