Hiya,

I'm looking at getting a new saddle for the mare I've had on loan for over a year now. I have been reluctant to do this as I don't want to buy a saddle for a horse that's not mine, and then she's taken back and I have a saddle that won't fit my next horse.

BUT, I just saw a saddlers that seem to make very nice GP's which have an Interchangeable Gullet System (IGS) so that you can fit the saddle to more than one horse.

I have heard about these IGS things before but have not heard any reviews. Anyone used them, are they any good? Or is it a 'barge poll' situation? Thanks!

Even with an IGS saddle, you can't get one saddle to fit every horse. From the reviews I've read on here and other forums my simplistic summery would be;

* CAIR = bad
* Wintec. Holds value in 2nd hand market but have 'banana' shaped trees unless they are the Isabell Werth dressage saddle or close contact jumping saddle.
* Thorowgood t4 or t6 = nice saddles with cob, average and TB versions. Also hold value well 2nd hand.

got another lovely cob thorowgood one, which I love. My last one lasted for five years of me riding on it every day, was sold with the horse looking almost brand new. sm x
