I've stared at them for so long now that I don't even know what way round they go anymore! I am thinking that the C shape would be that way if put on from the left side rather than a backwards C being put on from the left? Having a complete blonde moment.

No they're both anatomical . A crescent girth has a curved shape to the overall girth.

Oh, I thought these ones looked like they had they same sort of C shape so would still work on a forward girth groove type horse.

I tried the Shires girth on my gelding who has a very forward girth groove and it made no difference at all.

Crescent girth is next on the list to try!

Yes, I have and other than the shape of the outer line, the buckles are still angled away from the middle.

I've just swapped to an anatomical girth for my mare and I'm delighted with how it looks. So you don't necessarily need a curved one for a forward girth groove.

My regular Harry Dabbs girth doesn't stop the saddle being pulled forwards so I was hoping to try and get something that curves a bit further back to meet the saddle from the girth groove as well as getting point straps put on.
