are these good riders?

Disgraceful riding! But unfortunately similar can be seen every week-end during the summer at shows of all sizes - and not just in jumping classes.
I have to agree that the single jointed snaffle is often an instrument of torture.

yes i agree its a shame isn't it how one of the softest bits becomes a hell for the horse! no wonder they behave badly, they are in so much pain!
 
Yes that annoys me too, but I did see that guy getting dumped by his horse in the end. The sad fact is soon these horses will just give up and refuse to work due to the pain/fear and then they will be labelled bad and shipped off to gods knows where! :(

i know its stupid isn't it! well i hope many people see this vid and learn how to change! :)
 
But, apart from the obvious - that those riders are crap and have horrible hands - what is this the motivation behind this utube film? Is it to show non-horsey people how cruel riding is? We've already had that stupid woman Liz Jones going on endlessly about how it is cruel to ride a horse (she keeps them as pets instead). I just worry about seeds of disquiet being planted and where it all might end.
 
Well I only watched the start as the long lecture bits bored me - couldn't read the subtitles on the ipod or skip them. But didn't everyone there look like they were having fun... :o
 
ah Mr Nevzorov, wonder if he has succeeded in teaching his horses latin yet?

eta madmav I think he thinks much the same as good ol' liz jones, although he did used to ride his I think he went off the idea.

The video is by Mr Nevzorov, who, to put it mildly is as batty as a batty thing in batty land on a batty day :D
He doesn't ride horses any more, he wants all equestrian sports banned and he decided to teach horses to read Latin instead.
On that basis, I refuse to comment on the video itself :)

i hope its to let riders know what they are doing and to make there hands softer but hey i dont know!
 
Has anyone ever made a film of horses in bitless bridles being beaten and pulled about and called it, "This is what happens if you don't use a bit?" ;)

It would be no more stupid than putting all these clips together as an arguement against bits, imo.
 
Nasty clips but think I hated the emotive stuff being spouted by mr whatshisname even more.
These people can always find clips to support there views and if they got there way none of us would be allowed to use our horses as we want at all.
I hate the only I have the key to happy horses c**p these people spout only I understand the rest of world except my followers are cruel .

yes i agree tbh i just watched the clips of the horses being beaten to bits and having there mouths ripped apart i didnt lissen to the raving and ranting old man!!!

QoC - good that you won't criticise the rest of the world, but truth is YOU wouldn't ride like that, I am very sure. I think you ride with more finesse.

I don't claim to be a "good rider" in the general sense. These days I am, at best, very average. But I work at having a giving hand, treating my horses firmly and fairly and I would sooner give my horses up than see myself sawing and thwacking like those "riders" in the video. Maybe my approach is sufficient that I may consider myself to be a "good" rider, actually.
