Are they kidding themselves??

They may well get £1200 for him but have to find the right buyer. Personally I would be more put off by the sweetitch than anything else although I am sure it can be managed, its just i wouldnt want to have to do it!!! Out of choice! I certainly would not pay 5k for a horse with it unles it was pretty exceptional in every other way!

However, there may be a competent adult wanting a project horse and if he is sound then he may be a bargain in the long run. I think they should just advertise for £1500 and be willing to take £1200. But if I was you I would leave them to it.

This one is nothing to do with me - just got asked one day to help with his flatwork, a lesson which lasted about ten minutes as neither the girl nor her mum were really interested. Unfortunately though, I see them everyday, and they keep on at me about how much he is worth. I just nod and keep quiet.

WHAT?? Never

Bear is a 15hh 5 year old cob x hannorvarian/TB.
He will do and try anything, loves hunting/XC/showing. Needs someone that can jump to bring out his potential in sj, cos im really bad with SJ'ing!
No vices, not a bad bone in his body. Hacks out alone and in company.
I was offered 3k last week and she would have paid more but I said I'll never sell him! She's still pestering my mate asking if I will sell him to her!

They are wrong in the head to be asking so much I wouldn't pay much over £600 for it, I think you were being more than genarous when you suggested your value.

Mind you I think it depends on whereabouts you are in the country too.

But I would never pay that for it!
I'd want a well bred friesen or andalusian for that lol

£5000!!! they are having af^cking laugh!!!! i have a top quality sec d nice person, easy to do hacks alone in company but still a bit green in the school, i would value him at around £3500!!!!!

i bought a cob mare just like the one you describe for £250 some 5 years ago, she is more or less sorted now, but not good in traffic, if i had to sell........i'd ask about £1800...

i wouldn't give them anymore than meat money- so about £500 to £800 tops i'm afraid.... FIVE GRAND WHAT PLANET ARE THEY ON!!!!!?????

What part of bloshy, opinionated, green, itchy, bargy, rude etc etc makes a kids pony.........

Thats like saying that merlin is worth 5k as he could be an eventer....... well he can jump but thats about it!!!!

Personally I wouldnt want him for free, but feel that £500 - £1000 if they were extremely lucky is nearer the mark!!

And he has SERVERE SWEET ITCH!!!!!!
Yeah cos they are really sort after lol!!!
And a great escape artist! Lovely!!!

Bear must be worth the same Merlin lol

Some people I know need to sell their horse, and are hoping for a quick sale... They have advertised him for £5000

[/ QUOTE ]This makes me wonder what they would have advertised him for if they weren't after a quick sale. £7,000? No wait, £8,000 ONO (and accept £7,500 on the day)

I wouldn't pay more than 1k for it. No use even if it is a cob as has no breeding papers. A girl from my old stables has put her 13.2 heinz 57 up for sale at 7k as a 'showjumping pony' having won nothing more than a few 2ft classes and no BSJA winnings at all. It's 14 aswell, I can't believe someone is actually coming to view it all the way from Leeds!
