Went to try a lovely IDX tonight who was the most hyper horse I've ever ridden, had rears, bunny hops, the lot thrown at me. Horse was the most forwards creature I've ever ridden. Oddly although my head says no my heart really liked her despite the fact she would need a hell of a lot of work to get back to being an allrounder (which I don't really have the time for sadly).

So are we all drawn to naughty fun horses that are potentially dangerous?

Not me. I like a horse with a bit of life but not a nutter thanks

Thinking on above I dont think any horse is really naughty just misunderstood.Bit like children they need to know follow and understand rules. My latest just didnt understand but tries really hard to please and is turning into the best little mare.

Not any more

I used to love a challenge but those days have gone,i have nothing to prove and love riding my boy knowing i am as pretty close to 100% safe as you can get

When i went view my horse he turned he backend to me twice and tried to double barrel me (he was only 5 months) but i thought this was really cute a little 12.2 baby with attitude
but now he is a 16.3 not so nice boy(5 yrs) he is ok with me but i really struggle finding someone to look after him when i go away, this is not so bad in summer as he is in field but i like to go away in october and this proves harder and harder each year. but i would say yes i am drawn to naughty horses/ponys. I also enjoy riding my friend pony that is a complete idiot he naps, spins, tries to bolt and chucks the odd mini rear in for good luck but he is a chalenge and i like that. ps. he is fine for little girl that rides him daily i just think he thinks get off me fatso

Not me, I'm fine with ploddy cob at the RS. However my 10yo daughter seems to be gaining a reputation for naughty little grey Welsh Sec A. Having tamed one over the past year, she was asked a couple of weeks ago to ride another who had no jockey as this particular pony has a little bit of a reputation for not liking novices, and it actually turned out the lady who owned it had 2 naughty grey Welshies that needed riding. Her friend she rides with at the RS is no better and specifically asks for the naughty ones too. Why do they want to do this when parents have enough to worry about as it is?

Nope. Not since I was a teenager anyway. What I LOVE about my girls (well, when I could ride them...

) is they are both v forward going, but totally safe, and talented.

dont 4get its your weekend to ride him!!!

Good god no. I like the fact that every schooling session gives me progress, that if I am stuck working and can't ride for a few days it makes no difference and that I can chuck him on the lorry and go out eventing or SJing or whatever and there is no drama. I had the naughty horse, it's pretty soul destroying after a while getting nowhere. With the naughty horse I managed one 2ft unaff ODE after 2 years. With the ridable horse I managed to take him and me from never having evented to Novice BE in two years. I have far more fun from the second horse!!

I seem to be, unfortunately, but it is a hell of a boost when you get them to calm down (mostly) and because they have finally found someone who "understands them", they will try their hearts out for you. I think i would be really bored with something that never put a foot wrong.

i think people like to think they have horses which are a lot naughtier than they are/were so they can boast about how well they ride to stay on or how well they have done to make the horse rideable.

been there, done that, got the t-shirt- naughty horses aren't fun or fulfilling they are a pain in the arse and i have only had/known one which hadn't totally changed its behaviour within a week of having the boundaries clearly set so these people who have horses that are still naughty after 3 years of owning them need to seriously re-look at how they handle their horses.

i am much happier with my well behaved horses who do what i want, when i want and try for me- they are push button because time has been spent putting the buttons in place, not because they were born like that
