Are We Looking For The Impossible?

I bought petty much exactly what the OP is looking for 2 months ago. 15.2, IDxTB, 5yo, done 3 BE90's and placed in all of them. 18 BD points, and had been cubbing last Autumn. Sane and sensible, but not a novice ride as very forwards going. Has plenty of scope to go on up the levels. He came from East Yorkshire and it was a private seller. I paid nearly 3 times the OP's budget!! He has definately been worth every penny. In the past 2 months we have finished 2nd overall in the RC combined trianing league (baring in mind I didn't own him when the first few shows occured, and in the 3 we did got 2 2nds and a 1st). He was 2nd at the RC ODE, and came 2nd at our first affilliated BE80. He is now entered for BE90. I have already had people offer me the price I paid for him and more to sell him, but there is no way he is going anywhere, he really is a 1 in a million!

They're usually 14.3-15.3hh and are brill all rounders. You don't have to get an extreme one (Crabbet types are quite normal-looking horses without that snort and blow). Plus, because Arabs only appeal to a small number of people, you can get a massive amount of horse for your cash. Which is funny, because 30 years ago, Arabs were fetching literally millions. Now, a 3k budget will buy something lovely that can do a little bit of everything and will jump 1m quite happily. My new lad is only 5, and has taken the move to a new yard with aplomb. You'd think he'd been there for years.

Indeed.....I got a lot of horse for my money, he's hopefully going to be my horse of a lifetime.

A chunkier type arab will not look especially 'araby'.....unless the tail is flying lol.....:D
 
If there's a suitable horse on arabianlines for sale, I always say that it's there (I can't work out how to post a link to a specific ad on there) as people can then make their own minds up after looking at the ad.

When it comes down to it, if I had a pound for every time someone said to me 'I don't normally like arabs but I love your grey,' I wouldn't be a millionaire, but I'd have a fair few quid by now. :)

Unfortunately the gelding doesn't have so many fans, but he's only two years old, so has plenty of time to win people over. :p
