Hi, as above really. I have a yearling filly and a 2 year old filly, both from fabulous showjumping lines and I am thinking about selling them. Long story that I won't go into but don't want to waste money advertising them if youngsters are not selling at the moment. Comments please? Thanks.

No idea, it's luck of the draw really isn't it. I bought my yearling around this time last year. Guess it was a case of the ad being in the right place at the right time - oh, and the fact I thought the price was VERY good (ie cheap!). I don't think there's really an answer TBH. If someone's looking and you have what they're looking for and noone esle does then I am sure it's going to sell but you can never tell with these things.

My friend imports foals from Germany every year and she does find that the dressage babies sell when they are really young but showjumpers don't usually want the jumper babies until they are backed/rising 4.

I wish more people were selling yearlings ( or under) I'm looking to buy one, but can't find anything that draws me in anywhere.

I have advertised my yearling warmblood but market very quiet.
Have advertised for a swap for something smaller also and had a much better response to that.

Where is everyone trying to sell???? I wonder if its the same places where I'm looking to buy (and pthers who want to buy!)

Every horse has a price it will sell at but it might not be what you hope for.
I have been breeding for years and it is always easier to sell 3/4 yos or foals as they still have the cute factor so yours will not be easy to sell.

I've got a just 2yr old, currently about 15hands and bred to event, and IMHO gorgeous :D Hes probably going to be for sale, in fact almost definitely as I have been incredibly ill and need to cut back to 2 :( I'm going to hang on to him till next year when hes 3yr old and advertise him then. Everything sells for the right price but I'd rather hang on to him till next year when hes more marketable and I can be a bit more choosy about the right home :)

Thanks every-one for your replies.
Mixed thoughts then really.
Both are Holsteiners to make 16hh.
One from Narcos x Almoretto lines.
One from Ramino/Romiro lines.

I'm thinking something to make around 15h or over. To live out 24/7 but not too chunky. Not a huge fan of coloureds - which is all I seem to find. Not ridiculous money. I'm up for one which needs some TLC to bring it on, eventually to hack and jump, local show level!

In south west (Bristol) area.
:)

I bought a cracking SJ bred foal this year but also looked at yearlings/2 year old.

The price has to be right :)
