Daft question I was busily composing advert for someone to help out at our yard during school hols when my other half said he was not sure you could do that anymore? Was thinking about a school leaver as a working pupil but then thought while the school holidays were on would maybe go down that route... Does anyone know if it is allowed anymore and where and how to advertise it???

As far as I am aware, you can still have youngsters helping out at stables, but your insurance must cover them, and you need the appropriate child protection stuff in place. There are also limits on the hours they can work, and they must be supervised.

i imagine it would depend on what type of yard you are.
If you are a business, i imagine you would need to ensure your insurance covers you for work experience pupils/pupils of a certain age.
If you are a private owner, with a private yard, i imagine its between you and the youngster/their parents?

sadly i am pretty sure this isnt a legal requirement (yet) as a yard local to myself has recently had 'issues' with one of the owners accussed of rape and indencent behaviour etc with the younger girls on the yard. He wasnt CRB checked etc and it seems he didnt have to be.
