Are you an adult pony rider who cops flack?

I cant believe some of you get all these comments

I actually dont really like ponies, but thats my taste and my prerogative, Id never *dream* of commenting negatively on someone whos riding a pony/horse/mule whatever, I dont even give it a thought! Who ARE these people!?

Oooh I might borrow a pony and see if I get commented on then I will have some words to say :p

Dafthoss, lovely pony, but you are clearly way too big & heavy for the poor thing, looks more suitable for a 7 yr old. You should give him away free to my daughter, you can rest assured I definitely wouldn't just ride him myself. Honest.

Sadly hes going to be my eventing pony  (thats possibly why people think I'm a little mad) so as much as he would love me to stop breaking his back and jumping him its not going to happen any time soon, sorry :p. That and I'm not to sure I would trust him to jump with a kid he can be the ultimate prat when he fancies it  theres a reason we only jump bigger stuff now it keeps his brain occupied but then that wouldnt be a problem if your going to steal him for you.

Quite happy to change tactics & admit really I'd like him! Don't see why he can't be an eventing pony. Mine did pre-novice back when that was entry level. Mines the same re smaller jumps, perfectly safe round bigger stuff but takes the p*** round small stuff. Except if you put a small or nervous kid on as she tends to babysit them.

Teehee :D you can have a go but hes not going any where :p, catch me on a bad day though and you might be lucky. Its when people havnt seen him jump and have just seen him being an unco-operative donkey that it seems a little ambitious to turn him in to an event pony.

I would have said he was the perfect babysitter but the other day he was vile when he had a child come see him  so I'm not sure I could say that any more :( he used to love doing the pony ride thing as it ment lots of carrots and not a lot of work.

I hack out on a friends 17hh warmblood, im 5 foot nothing!Believe me that looks silly, but i can control him and he has taught me to sit tight!!! I then jump off him and get her daughters 12.2hh welshie and take it hacking ffor hours, we have so much fun. One of the girls who works on said friends yard thought i was her 7 yr old daughter out riding in the pink bling!! LOL im 24 and have 2 kids of my own.... i still pay a childs cap price out hunting.....

I've always had Tbs over 16hh but when I lost Rebel in October, I decided I wouldn't get another horse.....instead, a friend found this weedy coloured filly on Horsemart (advertised as 14hh - she wasn't - she was 13hh when we got there!) and I fell in love with her and brought her back the same day. She will be 3 in May and is currently 13.3hh at the wither and about two inches higher at the bum - at the moment she seems to grow daily! I'm hoping for 14.2hh, but as it looks like she's going to be a lovely chunky build anyway I don't care if she only makes 14hh. I know some other liveries think I was stupid buying her and a few people have said "Are YOU going to ride her" in that condescending way, but most have been really supportive and really like her. I'm 5'6 and she will be broken in when she is four, next year
I've still got my 16.2hh TB mare for when I want to risk my life and spend all my money on vets bills, but I'm really looking forward to being able to ride the little one as I think she's going to be an absolute star! I don't care what anybody else thinks.

I'd tell them to sod off! I used to compete a 14.2hh regularly up until I was about 21, I got the odd "pot hunter" and "when will I move onto a horse" comment when I was competing, but they were just jealous because we used to beat them a lot so I'd just laugh ;) I've bought project ponies of 14.2hh since as well so had them out competing until about 3 years ago - nobody ever said anything. Maybe it depends if you're on a yard or something, bitchier environment?? Mine are at home so I've never had to deal with that sort of politics! I jump on my little 13.2hh sometimes though which I'm massive on, I'd hate to think what people would say if I did that in public / on a yard!
