Not going to change the basis of their normal feed as I don't want to give them a shock, although I'm going to pop into a supermarket later and buy a variety of vegetables - carrots and parsnips spring to mind, any other favourites?
A brussles sprout on a stalk he gets one every x-mas morning. A girl at the yard made them all a stocking with an apple, swede and treats as a prezzie for them so they can enjoy them to
Sunny has a mince pie in his tea tonight and one in his brekkers on Christmas morning. Everyone at my yard thinks I'm completely mad (hence id lol). I read that donkeys (only in private) kneel down at midnight on Christmas Eve - any comments Donklet? Sunny's pretty close to being a safe and lovable donkey so he gets to remember Christmas too. Veggie ones, natch.
Yep, they're all getting their breakfast warm, with a treacle butty on top (and maybe some in the feed too) and i've got swedes to hand up for them all too.
Guinness in Brekkie for my boys well got enough for the whole yard...... And a couple of carrots for tea..... I love giving them brekkie on Christmas day
They will both have their stockings with pressies, treats and other tasty things. Captain will have his swede, carrot, apple and pear brekkie, with his favourite thing in the world, Kendal mint cake (only a small piece ) on top.
Fany will have her breakfast with added fruit and swede. Both will get a mince pie with their tea.
I'm a bit of a scrooge as Daisy does absolutely nothing different on Christmas day. I don't even want to think about what the vets bill would be if she colicked from a change in diet.
Ours dont get breakfast so wont get a special breakfast, however think they might get a few treats (and a cuddle, which Badger will love, and Bodey will take because he has too, he, he) !
QR - I really can't understand why people want to feed their horses guinness.
It has no benefit at all, and feeding a horse alcohol just seems an unnecessary colic risk to me
Mine won't be getting fed anything different tomorrow, but my mother and I shall probably spend a chunk of the morning with them for cuddles and a big groom each
(If they weren't both out of work, then we would ride).
no mine get what they get every morning, and evening!! no extras! the vets will be on bank holiday rate so why give them something which might give them gut ache or worse? i think they are unaware what day it is
Mr S isnt too keen on guiness but he is rather partial to half a pint of real ale so he shall have that and some carrots and apples in his feed tonight and possibly if he is lucky and I can find some he will get some minstrels, his all time favourite food!
