Im not sure whether to put a lightweight on tonight or just leave the flysheet on. What are you all doing with your horses?

We have had really bad rain at night last few days, and stormy to....but low winds and still around the 10 to 12 degree mark, if not a bit more at night! so pony is still naked!

My mum is rugging up her 4yr old TB, but only with a light rain sheet cause we've had some nightly showers.

I'm not rugging up my boy though, he's a IDxConn so even if it does get a little nippy he has no problems with it.

And really it does depend on the breed a lot of the time

Naked all the way (horse that is!!) I think they can regulate their body temps far better than we ever can and TBH lightweights make them far sweatier/hot and uncomfortable than a bit of rain ever will xx

I'm still rugging up my ISH at night either with a flysheet or light weight rug, putting the lightweight rug on tonight!

naked. and will stay that way unless it drops to frosty nights again. even tho its chucked it down some nights it is sooooooooo warm!

Mines stabled in a summer sheet :) Were not allowed 24/7 turnout :( But if she was out id probably have a lightweight no fill turnout as its raining and windy here atm

Two of mine are in with a summer sheet for the horse and naked for the yearling

My older tb is out with a lightweight combo and the other is out in a m/w combo!

My mum is in charge of my mare at the moment and she's doing what I would do - rug on if it is medium to heavy rain as pony suffers from rain scald and also isn't very resilient to rain. Otherwise, no rug.

See my TB X is usually out may till September at least with no rug but this yr he broke his jaw and was on lots of box rest and he seems to have become a bit of a wimp and to accustomed to his cosy stable he stands at the gate and mopes about if theres the slightest hint of rain. So i have relented and put his rain sheet on when its raining but i go up at 5am and take it off before i go to work if it looks as if its going to be nice. Pansy of a horse :) x

All of mine are naked (and they were last night too and we had heavy rain!) It's only been dropping down to about 13 degrees here at night so it's far too hot for rugs!

Not for my bucas sunshower it is not, showery here so he's been in it all day been checking and has not been too hot lovely rug takes away the risk of getting it wrong!

Big Ginge was going dressaging today, so we left him out with a lycra hood over his plaits, and a waterproof sheet on. Others were naked. Unfortunately, we discovered this morning that the waterproof isn't, so the plaits were fine, but the body needed some extra work doing! I use http://www.accuweather.com/ukie/index.asp as it has a "realfeel" temperature, which takes into account windchill etc. Invaluable.

they dont shrink in the rain .. well none of mine shrink. and night temps are above 10 degrees so they will all be fine. plenty of food, grass is growing and they really enjoy NOT having to wear rugs! the outside ones can move around to get warm IF they get cold. indoor ones are wearing a cotton sheet as they are limited to move around in stables, and to keep their coats good for competing.

The young un is naked, but the brown one has a light weight on as he is an ERS sufferer and tied up the other night, so am having to keep him overly warm.

I have been putting mine out with a fly rug with one of those waterproof undersheets. I brought him in today and he was covered in sweat and foam so having ridden and cleaned him up i put him out in just the fly sheet tonight.
I think it is worse for them to sweat all day than to be rained on for a hour or so!!

Yep, Billy is out naked out during the day and has a rug on at night :)

Temp drops quite a lot at night here still :)
