Are you shod or barefoot?

Which are you...?

Kal only has shoes on his fronts (egg bars) and he competes . . . hasn't had shoes on behind for a year and a half now and has never struggled.

Completely barefoot no boots. Simple reasoning he doesnt need them & was a ****** to shoe as he didnt like the banging (of the nails), has been barefoot most of his 10 years except give or take a year :)

Shod certainly seems less common now, to me anyway! 8 years ago when we got our first pony they were shod all round as standard.
When I got my bigger mare she was shod infront, both however are barefoot now, bigger mare since Oct/Nov 12 and first pony at least 2 years :) can't say I'd want shoes back on them though bigger mare is footy when under saddle and one of her forefeet grows into a weird shape that can only be stopped by shoes so I'm sadly thinking about putting fronts back on for her.

You might be interested to read rockleyfarm.blogspot.com and see the photos of foot deviation in response to body asymmetry before you shoe that foot. She probably grows it like that because it balances her leg.
