I was so excited about waking up and seeing the snow today, it's about a mile from my house to the main road down a private lane which is totally ungritted so pretty tricky if you don't have a 4x4, lucikly for me I have one, slightly less lucky is that my 4 wheel drive capacity broke just before xmas

I could have powered up the hill to my horses all guns blazing and smug in my car, instead I trudged up on foot looking like some kind of yeti, not quite so cool!

So the horses are confined to their beds, and I can't make it to work, not much can be done so I made a little video instead. Here is my winter wonderland, is yours more or less snowy than this?... what are you doing on your 'snow day'?

Roaring open fire, hot choc, and ginger nut biscuits for fellow yetis

Looks very pretty! We have about the same amount, maybe slightly less as we didn't get a huge dump yesterday, so the stuff from the weekend is pretty compacted now!

No snow days for me, I've had to trek in all days but got away early a couple of times which is always good.

PS- congratulations on your new "column"!

When's the first post going up?

lovely white video

i think we have about the same amount of snow, maybe a bit less.

we had only a little (1 or 2 inches) up until yesterday and then last night we got a load more, now its like 4/5 inches! was a nightmare trying to drive home from the yard late last night (7pm ish?), the 4x4 was going slowly sideways down a slope, and my mum was like...
crazy.gif
eventually we got it moving forwards but was a bit frightening

i love soaps expression while munching his hay in his stable

haha bless him. My three were out last night, but will be in all day today - actually bugsy was in last night as he managed to injure himself on the hard ground...
mad.gif
he slipped and whacked himself on the inside of his off fore...bit of heat but he's not really lame or anything - so hoping just a bit of soreness/tenderness xxx

oh forgot to say...on this snow day i am not at school where i should be learning a levels...instead i am at home on here...i might do some chemistry revision though...
smile.gif

today is the pretty stage, but once it's compacted it's havoc, fingers crossed it doesn't decide to rain!

I think you should at least be able to blag Friday off due to snow!
smile.gif
Thank you I have submitted my 'EWW bio' so that should be up any day now! Eeeeeke exciting!
smile.gif

Hahahaha Soap and Jack were doing their very best mind bending techniques, I think they think if they stare hard enough they can melt the snow and go out, they're not keen on staying in bed unlike me!
smile.gif

Oh chemistry revision that brings back memories, good luck!

Vibes for Bugsey's leg, and big respect to your mum (or should she be called The Stig?

)

Thank you

seems like we have all been doing the same thing this morning checking our emails!

We had the same thing today but from the other perspective customers phoning up saying 'help! I can't get to the yard' roll on summer, or even just some sunshine to melt this white stuff away, I'm 'so over' snow now!

Lovely vid but I have to say, we can beat that by MILES
shocked.gif
We've got about 10-12 inches here, more than I can ever remember, and we've been here 16 years!

And it's just started snowing again... Village is completely cut-off, quite fun really, at least for a day or so. Off to Village Pub at lunchtime so I'll try and take some vid to upload to show you later.

Congratulations on your new column, hope you enjoy it
smile.gif
T did one for the last 2 years, as you probably know, and she's really enjoyed doing it, I think she'll miss it next year although I'm quite relieved as it would have been one more pressure as she makes her first attempt at Pony Trials
crazy.gif

I love the fact that the village is totally cut off but you are still going to the pub for lunch! hahahah
smile.gif
you have your priorities right

Oh yes upload a 'wintery wales' vid pls I have to see if these claims are true if you are going to bag the 'snowy-est HHOer' title
smile.gif

Thank you I have read some of Tilly's stuff she is mega, and what a cracking pony, I hope she has a good season and tell her not to get too bogged down by what other people say/think she looks a pretty stylish little rider to me!

We measured 8 inches at the yard, and have had to dig our stable doors out to open them!! At home we're on about 8-10 inches, and it's snowing again......

We've got a bit more than that here. In the spirit of the HHO fit club, I got up, took one look at the hill I live on, got OH to change my pedals on the bike to flats so I could cycle in walking boots whilst I dug out my snowboarding gear (esp the helmet which has furry ear covers!).

I then cycled 6 miles to the yard, chucked my horse in the arena whilst i mucked out etc, bought him back in and watched him box-walk while I mucked out, hayed and watered 3 others to help the YM. I then cycled 6 miles back home. Now I am hungry, and remember exactly why I don't work with horses!

He is utterly hacked off with being in, but doesn't want to be out either. So he is very cross!!

If I had a board then it would have been by far the quickest way there this morning, even with walking up the hills. Where I live is a v hilly city, a point which was hammered home to me trying to cycle in the snow!

very pretty!! we do not have as much as you now but did before christmas. Getting fed up with it now- have just got back on D after a week off, rode twice and now he has had nearly another week off!!

Similar amount, somehow made it out in my car up an ungritted hill (and then a further 13 miles) to do morning stables and made it back again, although had to dig out my drive to park.

Apparently it's going to be -8 tonight so will be great fun when it freezes
frown.gif

I entertained myself at work by scraping all the snow off the yard in the hope that when it freezes overnight can still get to the walker in the morning

minus 8!???? MINUS 8!!!!!????? jeeeze that's cold bbbrrrrrr think I will be putting my pjs on tonight. after a day of snow trudging and grumpy boxed up horses I am out of love with snow no matter how pretty it looks it has to go, SOON!

I second this!

Used to love snow but it's not as much fun when you have places to go and horses to do!
