im still giving my 2 a bit of molli chaff and cool mix, not much but i like to know that they get a bit of something!! somebody laughed at me the other because of it, i know they have enough grass but i like to feed them all year round,
are you still feeding hard feed? xxx
 
Yep, tho i compete and ride her every day, she comes in every day has some hay and a feed. Id say it depends on work load and routine of owner really. At the end of the day its whats best for each horse
 
my cob's getting, 1 scoop of hifi lite twice a day with a mug of local balancer in each feed, but he's only 3 so trying to keep his vit and mins going, he gets the fence moved at night (strip grazed) and 2 slices of hay and its all gone in the morning!
my shetland gets 1/2 cup of local balancer in the morning and 1 slice of hay at night (shes stabled at night still coz shes a little fatty!) and she gets to eat what grass mickey hasnt!
 
yes - but i have 2 tb's so they always get fed all year round. their feeds are small but with the bad weather and lack of grass the feeds are still bigger than I would normally feed at this time of year....
 
my welsh D is still growing so i like to make sure he wont stop yet!! so he has half a scoop of chaff and half scoop of cool mix, and my sec A has a handful of each just so he knows he's loved!! he's a tad on the ''chubby'' side!
 
Yep mine are still getting a small feed...... All on WINERGY Equilibrium feeds and they are looking lovely this year, just the right covering.....
 
Mine are fed all year round - simple systems low cal products with their vits and mins and black sunflower seeds.

More in winter, less in summer if they have plenty of grass.

Two small feed a day and I pick out feet and put on fly spray etc in the field whilst they are eating.
 
My mare just gets 3/4 scoop of chaff to have her garlic, hoof supplement & linseed oil in. Last year she was on grass only during the summer but there is not much grass at ours and her hoof supplement needs food
 
Yep, my boy is 26 so like to make sure he gets enough to keep his strength up to stay healthy. He is muzzled during day to control grass intake as he 'over eats' on grass and gets colicky so he still has two feeds a day, a scoop hi-fi lite, small handful nuts and his supplements for joints, breathing and his oil and garlic and he gets 8lb soaked hay when I leave at night.

He gets ridden for about 30/40 mins 5-6 times a week wither light schooling or hacking. He's a happy old chappie and his coat is gleaming so figure he is doing ok on what he's getting.
 
My lad is fed all year round, he is schooled almost daily & competes once or twice a week (show jumping) so he needs the energy. Additionally he can get resentful if he's done some hard schooling & he doesn't get a feed at the end of it. His deed is reduced however through the summer.
 
Im gonna break the mould and say NO!! Mine is out at grass and hasn't been fed since she went out last month. She won't be fed anything extra until she starts to drop a bit of weight which knowing her won't be until about November. In the meantime i might even be able to treat myself to the odd dinner out!!
 
Yes. Beau still gets Balancer and a sprinkling of Chaff to break it up. He is kept out 24/7 but lacks energy. Mixes make him mental though and I've found the balancer the only thing that doesn't make him mental and fat!

He does get ridden 6-7 days a week with LONG Hacks and regular lessons and jumping etc.
 
My TB is on purely grass and nothing else... and is looking fab on it

nope, when they come in they will often get a bit of chaff etc. and just starting my big lad on some supplements just to help him when eventing but they have plenty of grass.
 
Mine are fed all year round. Mainly because I limit their grazing as I am paranoid about laminitis. Plus, 2 of mine compete so need it and my other 2 are veterans so again need it! I would always feed any horses all year no matter what so that they get their vits & Mins supplement.
 
There isn't much grazing in the UK that is varied enough to give a horse all vitamins and minerals they need. I used to stop feeding in the summer because mine are good doers and I didn't want them to get too fat. But over recent years they've had a good balancer with a little chaff throughout and they didn't get fatter, but they look fantastic. So I feed all year round, and the quantity doesn't vary much in the winter, they just get hay then as well.
 
Not feeding hard feed, but he gets a handful of chaff everyday to mix with his supplements. If he didn't get a lot of powdery supplements he wouldn't get fed at all, he's a fatty
