Are you turning out this morning?

However, I must qualify my remark about the horses looking after themselves. One year the water trough flooded a large area resulting in a huge skating rink. What did the horses do ? They came to investigate our attempts to turn off the tap. They noticed the ice and promptly all ten horses started acting like children skating on it, as I desperately smashed the ice up with my boots. It was a bit of a 'Have You Been Framed?' moment.:o

:D I'm sure most of my lot would be fine, but I know without a doubt littlun would kill herself on it. We normally trip each other up repeatedly without any help. She's also a little stupid, tends to imagine field boundaries where there aren't any, so could see her slamming breaks on, on the ice! Actually managed to find a horse as accident prone as me, thankfully we both tend to bounce... :p

Mine goes out whatever the weather, he just wont stay in and believe me i've tried. We salted our yard last night and put haylage in the field this morning. He is happier out and I can have peace of mind at work that I wont have a destroyed stable by trying to keep him in all day!
He'll be on the gate when I get there tonight though, calling to come in, you just cant win with him!! (rolls eyes!!)

Heavy frost here rather than than ice so mine went out as usual, the road to the field is gritted and theres still plenty of grass through the frost, they all walked right past the bale and a half of hay i split between them the other day to munch the grass.
If its really icy i'd rather keep my guys in
