Are your cobs in or out?

Surely it depends where they are in the country, what you are doing with them and whether they are clipped, rather than them just being cobs?

Out 24/7, coming in for a snooze about twice a week. Nearly 22 years old, totally naked, but unclipped and very furry, and ridden twice a week. Was diagnosed with arthritis in July, been treated with tildren and steroid injections, on synequin and is loving life! I have a very happy little boy who is healthy, sound and very, very contented. Checked every day and does not want to come in. Long may his naughtiness continue.

Out, fully clipped and wrapped up in a 350g rug the last week or so as it's been so frosty! He had been in a 240g previously.

2 year old out unrugged and 12 yr old clipped out and hogged also out rugged/neck rug. Both o ad lib haylage and hard feed once a day. We are top of a hill on Pennines both fine weightwise and happy out

5 year old, trace clipped, out during the day with a MW rug. Unclipped semi retired lad, in a LW , again out during the day, in at night. Going to review how he is doing as it has got colder, although he is carrying some weight.

He is in :-(

He is a very poorly boy at the moment - so is being TLC'd to the n-th degree. Turnout is the area around the seating area where the grass is still good as it is the only grass he will eat at the moment (very honoured as no one is allowed to graze their horse there). He is enjoying Readi Grass which is going down a treat at £11 a bag which lasts about 4 days!!!

I am sorry about your poor boy. I hope it all turns out well x

Both wintered out 24/7, bar any periods of heavy snow.

Young cob is fully clipped and hunting twice a week. He is now in a h/w, gets 2 bucket feeds a day and ad lib haylage.

Retired cob - not clipped and only wears a rain sheet in the worst of the weather. Has 1 bucket feed a day and a slice of hay am and pm.

For winter, they are in the same field, but separated by electric fence, due to different feeding requirements. In the summer they graze together.
