Are your cushing ponies generally warmer than the average pony?

This is only the second year brat pony has had cushings but I'm starting to notice more and more that he's warm. Always warm. Warmer than everyone else:rolleyes: Last year I did have to fully clip him in the spring because he just couldn't get rid of his woolly warmers quick enough and I have already clipped his chest a month ago because he almost melted when we had a few days in double digits. When we had -7, I put a medium rug on him as he stayed out, and despite my cob being fine who is usually a furnace, the pony was starting to sweat by the time I stripped him in the morning.

They are now back out 24/7 and despite it being on average 8 degrees (10 the warmest so far) he's itchy. Itchy in the 'i'm so hot' itchy. I've got the clippers charging and plan to take his neck and shoulder woollies off today as even on his clipped patch he's so...warm and it's meant to be up to 18 this weekend:eek::eek::eek:

His bloods have recently been checked and we are bang on the normal range and I know cushings affects their ability to control body temperature but are your cushing ponies always warm/hot?!

Mine is only borderline, but I've had to clip her every winter for the last 4 years because she melts if stabled. Living out was marginally better, although she shivered in the rain but melted in a lightweight turnout, like as wet inside as out! I clipped her shoulder/chest/neck a couple of months ago as she was sweating, but she then needed a m/w rug when it got really cold cos she was shivering. Argh!:confused::D
