Looking at Loobie Lous signature, it made me think as I had my horse shod yesterday, let her out afterwards, which was about dinner time and I fetched her in about 6pm and she was lame. I text`d farrier and told him and he said that he thought it may be because we have done her too early, they hadn`t really grown a lot at all, although it had been 9 weeks! I looked in my diary last week and thought `gosh its been 8 weeks` and phoned him. He said that she could`ve gone another 2 weeks yet.
Very pleased to say that this morning she trotted up the field very sound and chiro agreed that there was no lameness. Phew!
I have known this farrier for over 25 years and he is brilliant so I knew he hadnt done anything iffy.
I know of some people tho that leave their horses shoes on til they are like razors or the hooves are hanging over the shoes, sometimes leaving them on for 12 weeks!!!
My other mare usually lasts around 7-8 weeks.
Does your horse go the same time all year round or does it differ as to the different times of year. eg, spring 7-8 weeks, autumn 8-9 weeks? Or do you just book in advance every 7 weeks for example. Just curious.
Thanks, just interested.
