Are your horses wearing rugs at night?

My thoroughbred a very warm horse as it is, if it's raining shes in a lightweight (because im soft and worry that shes getting wet :L)
and my arab is a wuss, one drop of rain and she's shaking so shes in a lightweight in the rain, but when its cold and raining shes in a medium weight (like i said, im a soft person) and I know they're probably over rugged, especially my arab but shes happy.

Oh they both live out and naked in the warm weather or in fly sheets. Naked when they are in for the night.

You are joking! It takes all sorts I know, but NO! It is 31C here, might go down to 25C during the night if we are lucky:(

Mine won't get blankets until they are cold, probably about the middle of December when it starts to snow. Anyway, my blankets are at the back of a barn behind about 50 round bales, I'll probably have to buy more because I can't get at them:mad:

My TB is in a fly sheet if it is warm and dry or a LW t/o if it isn't, only because she is a little underweight so I want her to use all her food for condition.

Only put a rug on the TB if the weather is really filthy and wet, but as a rule, no, none of ours are rugged!

Broke buthappy, I am probably teaching you to chew eggs, but beware in this heat that rugging and keeping them too warm , will actualy make them sweat the weight off.

I only say as got my horse back like a skeleton, and rugged him and he did just that, took it off and made much more improvement xx

Hi, thanks but she only gets a sheet if she is being rugged and only if it goes under about 12*, she has never come in sweaty.

ETA: she is out at night and in the heat comes in to an air conditioned indoor barn!! (I am quite liking my new yard!)

Mine hasn't had a rug touch his back for a good 3 months maybe longer. Even in the rain  he hasn't melted yet.

I should add that this is a 'skinny' TB. ;)

Mine is fly rugged during the day, no rug at night at the moment as it's been too hot and muggy
I will only put a rain sheet on my boy if it's meant to turn chilly (which it sometimes does)

Was thinking that myself, I can see Olly gaining weight as I look at him as he is also out with Millie (she stresses without him) and the grass in their field is knee high in places!

My Connie is in at night as they don't allow turnout for stabled horses at night, and he'll have a rain sheet during the day when he goes out if it's really torrential but if it's a light shower he just has to shelter under a tree if he doesn't like it. xx

Rugs are for replacing hair when you've clipped it off, right? So my pony will be getting her rug (singular) when she has her full clip when the clocks change in October.
