Can anyone recommend me an Area 7 (midlands) PC that has lots on for teenies? My 3yr old niece - completely pony obsessed, rides 2-3 times a week and goes to the local gymkhana on weekends, seems just as interested in pony care as riding, and is driving her grandparents barmy setting up jumps and gymkhana/galloping round the house 8 hours a day on a draught excluder. She's tall enough and bright enough to be mistaken for a 5yr old!

Probs wouldn't join until January when membership renews but would like to start looking just now. Any recommendations appreciated :) have looked on branch websites but it's been that long since I was with PC myself I'm struggling with the lingo and don't know if rallies etc cater for the nippers.

Ring the DC or secretary - I can't give any personal recommendations as we are in a different Area, but they mostly do cater for that age group at rallies, although it helps if they have several others to make a little group of minis.

Also might be worth going along to see a few rallies. In theory you should join your nearest branch but in practise it depends where they hold most of their events, and some are much more active than others so it is worth shopping around!

If you join from October it is the same price as from January and you might get the chance to join in a fun Christmas show or party.

ps sounds like my sort of child - riding a draught excluder round the house - is she up for adoption by any chance :)

The North Warwickshire branch seem to have lots of small people at the moment (although I am not sure whether there is anyone as young as 3!) I would give the DC a call and have a chat with her. Her contact details are on the website. Good luck!

As someone else said it is a huge area, probably 2hrs from top to bottom wihen driving a trailer.

I would suggest that you narrow it down to 3 or 4 Pony clubs around you and then check their websites to see what activities they have on and/or give David Cashmore (Area 7 co-ordinator) a call to narrow it further.

Once you have narrowed it down then try calling the DC's and maybe pop along to a few rallies to see what you think.

From experience I would say that sticking close to home is better as then friends that she makes through PC are near enough for her to hack out with etc as she gets older. If you always have to drive an hour to the nearest rally then it can become a chore.

Oops, sorry I live in Coventry, so Atherstone, Coventry, Warks, North Warks, west mids, west warks and Heart of England all surround us. Lizzie I have had a look at the events with my local PC's but thy don't make a lot of sense to me with all the lingo (What's a DC!)

But thankyou :)

So joining in October sounds like a plan, and as for adoption... well at the rate she's going the parents (my non horsey brother and his non horsey wife) are either going to have to learn what all these horsey terms she comes out with actually mean - or I'll pass on your details, lol
