Can anyone help me? Diva and I went to our first affiliated BD competition last weekend and were 1st and 3rd with 67% and 63%.

This means we have qualified for an area festival qualifier of our choice. I have decided I want to go to Wix EC in Essex as I would love to go to the reionals at OEC and the Ardingly one is only a couple of days before!
So I have copied my Dressage tests and put the originals in the envelope ready to post but here is the problem.
On the BD entry form what do I put as I don't know which day the prelims are and also how much does it cost??????

I have looked on Wix EC website and nothing. I have checked out the Petplan Area Festival website and nothing. I have also scoured BD and can find nothing.
I could be having a very blond moment and it is staring me in the face but can someone please tell me what I need to do? The dog is desperate for a walk and I am holidng off as I want to walk him via the postbox

You're being a bit previous I think! Wait until the schedules come out for the Area Festivals - which aren't until the end of the summer anyway.

If you win another one with a good enough score, you might find yourself qualified for the Regionals in which case you can't do an area festival anyway.

Calm down dear, calm down!!

If you qualify for regionals but would rather do pet plan are you allowed.I want to do prelim. regional and pet plan novice but have qualified for both at regional???????????????

I thought you could do both as I'm a Group 8 rider and it doesn't say you can't do both although I could be wrong. I rang BD who were not that helpful

I was trying to sort entries out and be organised and as the all the dates and venues were published and being given out (got mine at Speedgate when I won) I presumed I could get my entries in.
I will ring BD again tomorrow and if I fins anything out I will PM you.

Right, first of all whoa there!

Well done for qualifying btw but as you have no info I'm assuming you were competing on a ticket?

First of all there is an entries 'opening' date. For comps taking place during 16th to the end of the month, so that includes Wix AF, entries OPEN on the 15th of the previous month.
So, don't send your entries in yet. I don't know how strictly centres adhere to this rule but I wouldn't send your entry yet as the official opening date isn't until June 15th.

Secondly you have to be a member of BD before entering your Area Festival although at Prelim the horse does not need to be registered.

When you are ready to enter, the Prelim AF class is on Sat 28th July and is Class 1 and costs £12 to enter. There are no other warm up Prelims but if you do register your horse there is a N21WQ which you could do as well to make the journey worthwhile although there is no guarrantee that it would be before your Prelim.

When you mention about wanting to go to the OEC Regionals, I'm presuming you mean to watch? It's just that you can't compete at Regionals and Areas at the same level in the same year.
As Hedgewitch says you might qualify for the regionals but as carthorse also says then you can choose which you'd rather do but you can't do both.

Hope this helps.

Exactly what I was looking for! That's perfect thank you.

She and I are all registered now

So I am going to hold off for a bit on the off chance we qualify as I think I would rather go to the regionals. And if not then we can go to the area festival instead

Yep, that sounds sensible.

Then you've always got your AF qualification to fall back on if nec.
Of course if you are both registered now you could always try to qualify for the Area Festival at Restricted Novice AND do the Regional Prelim or do the AF at both levels.

Good Luck!

Now that sounds like a plan I didn't think about doing that.

I was considering giving a novice a go, I could aim to get over 60% and if I do then I could have the best of both worlds.
Poor Diva she won't know what's hit her!

you cant enter for the area festivals yet. they work just like a normal show - entries open on the 1st of the month before if in the 1st half of the month or on the 15th of the month before if in the 2nd half of the month. you need to wait for the schedules to come out in the BD mag and enter then. AF's aren't till Aug/Sep so you've got ages yet. Just keep hold of your sheets and hang fire. If you do win your classes to get regional qualification then you can make a decision on which one to go for.
