Well I was down at the yard for 6:30 this morning and got my usual morning whinney from Gin. She wasnt too impressed when I shoved the syringe in her mouth.

Gave her her breakfast, plaited up then off we went.

We arrived at Richmond and had a tea and a bacon buttie whilst we looked around. It was a lovely venue but I was a bit concerned about the flowers all over the arenas.

I tacked Gin up and went off to warm up. I couldnt get her to properly relax but she was behaving. Off we went to do the first test. Gin was a bit looky and slightly tense but it was only the warm up so I wasnt too bothered. Went to do counter canter on a half circle and just as I was about to ask for a simple change Gin decided that it would be much more fun to do a flying change
smirk.gif
Gin never does changes not even when I ask.

Got round to the judges car she beeped me and told me to do my counter canter again as it was a bit wild.

Came out and met the lovely lzt and her cute little dog, put Gin back in the box and went for a drink. Mum was left on dog sitting duty which she loved.

Went to check scores and they were all in 50's apart from 2

mine wasnt up yet.

Tacked Gin up and did a quick warm up for the festival test. She was really tired and had no energy left. She did a fantastic test, I was really proud of her. Although I didnt think she was going to stop after the medium trot down the centre line.

We put her back in the box and went to check the scores.
She had got 61.03% and we ended up 6th in the warm up class. Next thing the were announcing over the tannoy who they wanted for the mounted prize giving, they had even put all the scores up! We were third with 61.17%. Again all the scores were really low. At this point I was panicking about the prize giving as I thought Gin would be really naughty.
Well she stood like a brick
laugh.gif
I think she was too tired to move. I am chuffed to bits with her.
Only one person qualified for hartpury as the percentages were too low.

You came third?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is fantastic!

And I missed the prize giving, what a shame!

Was lovely to meet you and your mum, Gin is so so beautiful- was great to see you both in action and I'm so pleased you got third!

Thanks, I was chuffed to bits. Im not the slightest bit bothered about not qualifying as I cant go anyway, Im just glad she behaved herself.
After you left mum started playing with the puppy again.

Thanks everyone, I had such a good day.

Sorry lzt but the photos may have to wait. Im far too tired to walk downstairs and do the photos. Im thinking about retiring to bed.

Oh well done!! To come third at the areas is great... I bet you are pooped though... it was sooooooooooo hot and also all the riding/nerves etc.. takes it out of you eh??!!! I dont blame you if you go to bed!!! Well done though and flying changes... !! Ha!! We did that today to!! My boy never does this either but decided he would do one!! Lets hope when we ask for it properly they will give one !!!!

Congratulations - great results!
grin.gif
Shame about the low scoring - meanie judges
tongue.gif

Well now you know Gin can do prize givings - I bet she quite enjoyed it!

Well done - such an achievement. Shame your scores were so low, but how you felt about the tests matters so much more. Pleased you liked Richmond - I'm off there next week.

Well done for today!

That is great news that you came third! You must feel very proud of both you and Gin
smile.gif

I didn't know you had to be above a certain percentage to qualify, I thought it was just 1st and 2nd place

Gins canter isnt really good enough yet for changes, hence why she lept up in the air and ran off afterwatrds.
grin.gif
its the one pace which we have always struggled with. I had to laugh when the judge got out and said it was wild.
grin.gif

They know how to suprise you dont they.
smirk.gif

I think she was too tired to move
grin.gif
It wasnt really a proper prize giving it was just a case of stand anywhere in the arena then trot round if you want to in no particular order.
smirk.gif

I think a friend of mine is there next week. I will definatly be going again but not sure when. I might have to give up competing over the winter due to work.
mad.gif

TBH I didnt bother reading the rules
blush.gif
I was chatting to someone on the way out of the prize giving who told me. I couldnt of gone to Hartpury anyway cos of work.

What were the comments you received on the sheets?

You sound really pleased with how she went which is all that matters... the Novice was being judged quite low in my opinion (having watched some previous tests), so perhaps it was the same judges
confused.gif

Who was judging your classes? pm if you prefer.
From the judge at C I got lacking in engagement & not between hand and leg so losing outline.
Judge at M said lots to like - horse with potential, work on improving your basics like transitions.

I agree with both of those comments, Gin hates having to use her back end hence me taking her for x-rays to make sure everythings OK. She was very tired in the second test. Im really pleased with her, we may not of got the best marks but the judging was consistant.

They always mark at least 5% lower at regionals and finals.I don't know why. Good is good and needs an 8.You often get one judge that marks everyone about the same[ within 10%] then another judge that marks with an enormous difference and that becomes the influentual judge. I've seen it again and again.
