Hope someone can help -
Intermediate SJ is listed as 95cm. Can anybody tell me if that's max height for all rounds or if thats first round and if so, what would it go up to?

Many thanks.

I'm swithering here as 95 is top end of comfort zone!

I'm sure I will be corrected if I am wrong but I think that must be just the 1st round.

The Novice goes up to 95cm in 2nd round SJ & up to 95cm eventing I think.

Does that mean that the intermediate could go up to 110cm?!

I can't remember the novice going up that much for us last year. It was advertised as 80cm. It started pretty titchy then went up to about 80cm in the 2nd round & jump off.

This is for pure sj, not the horse trials.

oooher. better find my brave pants!.

Inter 1st round Max 95cm, 2nd round max 1m. Novice max 1st round 80cm, max 2nd round 85cm.

This years courses being build by BSJA course builders. Mind jumps can look a lot sturdier when built well and lots of fillers!

I agree last years Nov and Inter were rather on the small side.

Unless there is some change from last year or to the PC rule book then for SJ, area novice is 90cm 1st round and 95cm 2nd round.Champs up to 1m.

Intermediate 1st round 1m 2nd round 1.05.
At the championships you can get fences up to 1m10 in the intermediate.

I would certainly want to be confident at 95cm to go Novice let alone intermediate. The Novice courses at our last years areas were significantly bigger than Intro for eventing & BN for SJ.

assuming we are talking riding club it is as britestar said :)

intermediate is

95cm first round, first 2 fences to be 90cm
1m in second
1.05 if it has to got to 3rd round. (more than one team on 0 score after round 2..... shortened course I think)

Also they do have a 5cm 'tolerance'

novice would be 80cm in first round
85 in second
90 if it goes to 3rd round

be prepared for there to be one or two at 1m10 in 3rd round of int.
it totally depends on the course builder. some times it's tiny. Other times rather large!

If it’s anything like the Teams Area Qualifiers I did (and I just did the Novice) it was built well up to height and width, I almost had a heart attack going into the second round on my cob, lol!

BRC qualifers should have an official steward & one of their many duties will be to make sure the course is suitably demanding without being overheight.
Should anyone think any fences at aqualifer are overheight the correct thing to do is raise the matter with the official steward, who will in turn raise the matter with the judges & coursebuilder.

yup, I think the problem is more noticeable with novice, just because of the spreads :) I think it depends on where you are jumping your unaff courses and how they build really. Off my two local centres one builds to height with spreads (much more like a small BS) the other will rarely pull a spread out going up from 2ft.

I was well proud last year jumping my first triple bar though :) we'll ignore what happened at the planks afterwards :D :D

fab, thanks guys. It's BRC i was talking about. it'll be top end of my brave zone, but there is no reason we couldn't manage it. :D
