Was at the birth of our new colt last night. It was absolutely amazing.

As he is such a big lad we have named him Arena Big Ben.

Ben is by Timberlane Huckleberry,a pure bred Cleveland Bay Premium stallion out of Knaresborough Moonbeam, CB Premium mare and head Stud book SHB(GB).

Congratulations - you must be over the moon - are you hoping to keep him entire, he has some rather nice breeding in him?

Just being there is just so fantastic. But I never seem to have the foresight to have a camera with me - so well done you. Is he a keeper?

Hi,
I did not order a colt, only had fillies so far.
If he turns out to be worthy of staying intact he will have to move on anyway, My CB girls are all the same family. Mother and 2 daughters.

Will show him through the summer and see what happens.

See you at Derby this year as The Northern is no more.

Congratulations. Lovely looking colt - what is his breeding? A bit of Knaresborough?

Hi

He has Knaresborugh stallions on both side of the pedigree, Knaresborough Warlock on the sire side and Knaresborough Fusilier on the dams. There are only a few horses by Fusilier in the UK as he was exported to USA.

If you are interested in his pedigree and Cleveland Bays in general, you may like to see his line back to the early 1800's in the link above.

Day 2 and Ben gets his first day out in the paddock. Legs still need to straighten out but they tell me its all ok.

GOSH! He is one big boned boy isn't he!! look at those joints!!

I'd personally want to restrict exercise a little til those legs straighten but it's just a thought...

Hi
thanks for your concern. That was Ben at 2 days old and his first steps, even on tip toes out in the paddock.
The vets advise to us was that after being so folded up the best thing was to get him out and moving. He has been out several hours a day since and has changed dramatrically.
Will get a new picture in the next day or so.
