Hi all! I went arena eventing at kelsall today! It was fab!
My mare knocked a pole on a showjump so I didn't expect to get placed, but have just looked on the website and can't make head nor take of the marking system??
I thought it would be the fastest clear round? But this isn't the case?
Any one know how its judged so I know for next time??
Thanks

Utterly varies between venues - there is usually a clarification on the schedule. If it was the sort without dressage then sometimes the XC is timed, other times the SJing, occasionally both. Sometimes it's the fastest time, other venues use an optimum time. I don't think any two places run it the same way!

Kelsall ran on an optimum time, so the clear round that got closest to that time won. Poles down show jumping were marked as 4 faults as per normal show jumping.

The horses that had stops don't seem to have a final score on the sheet so no idea how they marked those.

The optiumum time was a bit misleading though - worked out just less than 300metres per minute for the 90cm (and around 280mpm for the 80) which would have got you a pile of time faults at British Novice BSJA!

So, I think as long as you were happy with the way your horse went and you were happy with the pace you had, just treat it as a schooling round!
