We have an on-going problem with the maintenance of our arena and a numer of people think in would be a good idea for the 'school club' to purchase an arena leveller but no-one will get of their bottom and look into it properly! so I thought I would!

Our school is a 20 x 60 ish with sand and then a layer of rubber on top... any recomendations? should be able to tow the leveler with either a tractor or idealy a 4x4 but we could also look into purchasing a quad or similar... idea of cost would also be good!

Thanks

I've just bought one - asked about for recommendations and was pointed in the direction of Jacksons arenas (http://www.jacksonarenas.com/). It arrived very quickly by courier and though I've only had it a couple of weeks it's already proving invaluable. Light enough for me to lift on my own and hook onto my car. It's reversible so one side fluffs up, then you turn over to level.

I looked at loads on the net but they can be very expensive and this one looked value for money - which it certainly is.

Sorry to disagree with the above reply, but I bought a Jacksons grader for a similiar surface, and although it started well, a few months down the line it started to cause a ripple effect through the rubber. Changed to small chain harrow and get far better results - cheaper to buy and can be used on the fields too!

Our Arena is silica sand with a light rubber top.
We use metal a gate attached to a 4X4 with a chain, and harrow before it starts to track up. Only downside is it doesn't get into the corners, but with some weight on it it does level (we use a wooden pallet) - its a cheap way to get you started until you get something more permanent.
Regards chain harrows, be careful as you may bury the rubber top into the sand - we used ours when it was just a sand / coke surface a few years ago.
